I use an old surfing wetsuit with the sleeves cut off and I cut a slit in the crotch for relief.  Goretex pants over that, a fleece, paddle jacket and booties and I can be on the water all day in pretty rough conditions.

Dan & Victor at Headwaters took such good care of me. It made the drive from San Rafael to Lodi worth it by a long cast! I am hard to fit as I am 6'5" with size 16 feet and wanted a suit but can never find something in stock to try on. Dan & Victor had large sizes including a Stohlquist Pod-b dry suit that was a demo that was very close to a fit. They have Stohlquist altering the suit  for a larger boot size and adding two inches to length for FREE!  All for $400 bucks, Can't beat that!

For years, I rocked "the poor man's drysuit." Farmer john wetsuit with splash pants & splash jacket on top. And booties. It kept me warm and dry. And safe.
Wetsuit = 60, splash pants = 40, splash jacket = 40. And it's pretty versatile--for example, in freshwater lakes in summer, you can just wear the paddle pants and be quite comfortable (compared to a wetsuit or full drysuit).
I have found some smokin deals through rei-outlet.com too. Especially combined w/the 20% off coupon.
But that was before I got a sweet Kokatat drysuit from The Headwaters!

Until you fished GS5.  :smt005 :smt005 :smt005 Probably 50 dry suits were bought by NCKA following GS5. If I were to say what purchases make a huge difference in your enjoyment of the sport in order of impact:
1. Comfortable seat
2. Dry or paddle suit
3. Light weight paddle (if you don't own a Hobie)
4. Comfortable and functional fishing PFD
5. Quality fishing tackle

Yes, the 3mm FJ with top and booties works and I used it for 5 years, but when I switched to a paddle suit, it is so much more comfortable and warm I wished I had bought one years ago. For those fishing the north coast a thicker FJ might be better.

GS5 was the first time I wore my Kokatat Super Nova. I wore it all day. hahahaha Even at the potluck. Took it off to go to sleep anf put it back on the AM to fish some more. While people were dropping like flioes, I was warm, dry and safe. All GD day.

PM me on how to get the money where it needs to go (PayPal, snail mail it's all OK with me).

Sometimes it's nice just to do something for someone.

I bought my FJ recently, and at first like you didn't like the clingy feeling but it grows on you, and I'm quite used to it now. Sometimes I'll throw on a pair of windbreaker pants to give me a little extra warmth from the wind.

yakuza has a some paddle pants and a top for sale (or did). not sure what size you need but that may also be an added layer for cold water (as others have suggested)

Very cool Cheri! Come on down to the store and we will get you all fitted up on NCKA's dime  :smt002. Very cool of you guys to step up to help our new sister out. I can vouch for her enthusiasm. She has been to almost every kayaking, and fishing event the Headwaters has hosted this summer. Way to Pay it Forward and welcome the new comers. Thanks for making me a part of it.
