just simple 1"x3" (8 footers) from Lowes. I cut them down to about 6' and that gave me 2 foot cross beams (I used 4). There is a small amount of flex but i was able to sit on it. I am guessing I could strengthen them with a long support but my intent is to use it as a working platform and for my kids to sit on. Way strong enough for that. a few coats of some sealer and I am going to call it good....overall cost was ready for this........$10!

Here is a link to the planks....if it lasts one season I am fine with that. In a pinch this will make a great table! In all likelihood I will use it 3-4 times a year. I need to find some non slip pads (.99 store) to wrap the bars so they don't get scratched. A few bungees (or paracord) to hold it down...done

That is a much better looking design than my quick hack job!  :smt044  You could mount a child seat on that puppy!  :smt003  I think i'm going to make another one like your's, but smaller.  Or cut it in half basically and use it for both sides.

But yours has a BBQ! Mine is 19" wide. I wanted it wide enough to be useful but narrow enough so I could set it up far away from the yak to allow a paddle blade access to paddle as needed.

AH!  19" wide sounds just about right!  :smt002  I'm thinking of a way to add removable legs so I can use it in the campground too.  :smt003
