I have never saved the stones (otoliths) in the past because it reminded me of the movie "Predator".  :smt005 I have been donating the heads to a high school for student dissection. Naoaki was nice enough to send me the otoliths from the 60# WSB I gifted to the Sac Crew. They were pretty big, a little over 1.25" in length so I figured I should do something with it. Some guys take them to a jeweler and have a necklace made for their wife but I really didn't think it would accessorize well with Karen's other stuff.  :smt044 :smt044 :smt044 Decided to make a "predator" style pendant out of stuff from the garage.

I used a solid SS ring which was leftover from rigging butterfly jigs, 30# white spectra and a 1/4" bungee cord. I carefully drilled a small whole through the stone. This was tricky and the first one cracked and I had to glue it back together.  Then I used the spectra to wrap the otoliths and ring together. Then I used a quick set glue (loctite) to temporarily hold the pieces together. Then I put a thin coat of Thread Master epoxy and rotated it for 4 hours to permanently bond the pieces together and prevent chipping. Came out pretty cool looking.

Very nice Scott! I still have mine from 2009 and some from the vermilion's caught from the past. Non of the ones i have is as big as yours (1.25"). Still haven't did anything with them as far as making them into  jewelery. But i think there cool just the way they are. :smt003

thanks for sharing.

I had a local jewler here in Ojai make earrings for my wife.
They were from my first really big white sea bass in 2011.
She really loves them, gets compliments but says that they are
really heavy to wear all day long!
I think I paid $140 and used silver.
I love the pendant idea!  There is something really special
about the fish and the magical stones!
