Just received my Perch Grubs from Big Hammer, those guys are great, not only did I receive what I ordered but they added an extra package of Red Bluegill Grubs.  Will be on the beach Monday and let you know how they fish.  Anyone else have experiance with thess Grubs.
I was also informed that if you use sand crabs you should boil them first, after they are boiled they turn a bright red, hope to try this out on Monday as well.

Motor oil red flake perch grubs are great in the surf. Carolina rig 'em and cast out in the breakers. If they start swallowing the hooks try "hammer hooking" them. I've caught barred perch, small leopards, halibut, and corvina all in less than 8' of water in the breaking surf with light spinning gear.

+1 on the motor oil red flake...only color I use.  Haven't used the Big Hammer ones but I imagine they're the same as the Khalins grubs.

Never heard about boiling the sand crabs.  I imagine using them fresh would be the best.

Good luck out there Monday.  Post a report and let us know how you do.

I second the "hammer hooking". Those grubs catch perch :) Carolina rig and slow roll through the breakers and pockets. Fun times.

Sport Chalet stocks Big Hammers and the BH Grubs too. I have some, and haven't used them yet.

They actually grab the fly as I strip it through the surf.  I took a buddy out that never fly fished the surf and he didn't believe me about the crabs. So what was the first thing he caught in the surf that day, a dungy.  I am still amazed at how fast they are.

Here is one of the crabs I caught, I have caught some really big ones.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
