The date for the Folsom Fling Tournament is set at October 7, 2012

Location is Granite Bay on Folsom Lake, a State Park

Camping is available right there in the state Park

Day use at Folsom Lake is $12
Camping at Beals Point is $28 per night

We will be launching from the gravely sand below the Beals Pint parking lot.

Since this is on Bureau of Reclamation property, administered by California State Parks we are hosting this through the Freshwater Kayak Anglers Tournament Series (FreshKATS), a dues paying club which provides general liability insurance for members, sponsors and facilities during events.

Thus there are two fee schedules for this event: FreshKATS members and non-members paying the annual dues upon first event registration.

Registration:
FreshKATS members: $25
Non FreshKats Members: $25 + $15 FreshKATS 2012 membership = $40
T-shirts = $20

This tournament is either a Catch/photo/release of fish against a standardized measuring device (CPR) OR bring in your fish format, with a total of 5 fish counted for the individuals score.

The tournament scoring will be as follows and an extra 1 point per inch for CPR fish will be awarded.
Eligible species:
trout = 10 pts/in
largemouth bass = 8 pts/in
smallmouth bass = 10 pts/in
spotted bass = 9 pts/in
catfish = 6 pts/in
landlock salmon = 11 pts/in
panfish = 12.5 pts/in

At this point we are also hoping to have a PIF raffle if possible... I'll keep this updated if that works out :)

Waivers, entry forms and much more detail is to follow, including artwork for shirts and or hats, sponsors, prizes and raffle items.

Major sponsorship from Headwaters Kayak Shop is making this possible!!

Make sure to stop by and thank Dan for his support!!

I misspoke, I meant that I would not be fishing the tournament.  I would REALLY like to fish the lake but not by myself, way to new at this for that.  My offer to help out still stands as well.   :fish

Just go for it. Tourneys are fun. Anyone can win at any time. You just never know.

Where will anyone be camping? I'm looking at spots 47-49 online. I have never camped at Folsom so I will probably head out this week to check it out, but if there is a group staying close to each other, I'd like to find a spot nearby.

Thanks for the interest guys.  I'm still working on this as much as the baby allows :)
Rob, LMB.  all I have ever caught in Folsom is Spots and smallmouth.  If you catch a LMB we'll use AOTY scoring.

So far Headwaters has pledged support, as has Kayakfishingstuff.com and Hook1.

I should have rules and registration up tomorrow and graphics from Tony (Novo) in a couple days.

Thanks again for your patience, even though it is right around the corner :)

35-38 are nice 'cause cars only come in one way... Rangers can be a little enthusiastic. Don't let kids climb or swing from trees :smt012 Nice area but remember to lock it or loose it....
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Hooray!  I got my schedule and I am off on the 7th so I will be available to help you at the tourney before I fish.  What do you need, what time would you like me to be there?  Shelley :fish
