Camp Pendleton, CA. was a young corporal in the USMC didnt get to watch much tv as base when into instant high alert. but we had radio news turned up. most of my fellow Marines felt anger rather than sorrow(it kicked in later.) imediately started preparing gear and personel for deployment that we were sure was any minute now. 6 months later my unit deployed to get into the fight.
Where did he go george

I was asleep on the side of the road after a ten hour night shift, woke up to head home and turned on the radio to hear about the first plane hit the tower, made it to  my moms house and turned on the tv just to see the second plane hit, about 6 hours later got a call from my son and he said  that he would probably not be seeing  the family for a while because he had just heard  that he was headed to the middle east with  the Marines.

I just start my new government job, and was listening to the radio and couldn't believe what I was hearing. Work sent most of us home that day to be with our families.

Woke up and turned on the radio and was listening to Howard Stern while I got ready for work. He was describing what had just happened and I thought it was a sick joke. I got to work and turned on the TV at the break room. Saw what happened  :smt011

Got the call early in the morning turned the TV on just in time to see the 1st plane hit the tower.  At the time, I was traveling a lot, job related.  On 9/13- I was flying to Austin,TX from SFO, the entire plane had only 5 passengers; when I landed, Austin airport was empty with two black hawks circling around the airport.  From there on, the next three months, all my flights were ranged between 10-20 passenger at most, I basically got the entire row for myself, amazing.  After that, the nightmares started...TSA... no water, no nothing can be on board until now.

I was at home with the flu.
I had a mobile windshield guy come out to fix a chip or something.
When I turned on the TV and saw what was happening I was yelling over and over YOU MOTHER F&&^ERS!!!!! YOU MOTHER F&&^ERS!!!!!
I went out and called the guy in to show him why I was going all crazy with no one around and to let him know I wasn't yelling at him. I think the whole neighboorhood could hear me.
He understood right away.

We woke up to christian radio station and the dj started to explain and pray for the people of NYC. I ran to turn on the tv and I saw plane #2 hit the tower. I will never forget it. I was working for child protective services at the time and our office was locked down. We were stuck to the tv all day and praying.
Still praying and my little brother is in Afghanistan today. Thank you to all kayak brothers that served.

I was on the USS Carl Vinson in the Indian Ocean on the way to the Gulf. Needless to say our plans were changed and I watched the first bombs fly off the deck in retaliation. Spent alot of time on station boring holes in the ocean and launching airplanes.

Funny, I was on the Stennis. Same thing happened to me.

I was about to go to my first class of the Day at the University Of Maine. The Tv was on and showing how the first plane had hit the tower, it was crazy to see the second plane hit. School was cancelled for the day and everybody just sat and watched their TV's.

After living in New York for 4 years, I saw and felt the emotions that New Yorkers share. I think as Californians we never really felt what New Yorkers did that day. Hearing stories of friends that lost loved ones really hit home.

I was working at a Kragen Auto Parts at the time.  I got to work and one of my co-workers told me about it.  I spent all day at work before I got to see the first images.  Nothing I had imagined could have prepared me for what I saw.  I didn't feel real until I saw it.  Anger, sadness, fear, and a general desire to kick some a$$ all came over me.  I spent the rest of the day glued to the TV.

Was at work and somebody said a plane had hit the WTC. I had to ask what the WTC was. We went to the cafiteria and saw on the news that both biulding were hit. It was a sickening feeling that hopefully I won't experience again. Its amazing to me how many people have already forgotten!
