it sounds gross but when the urge hits ...lick a dirty ashtray ... that is your wife's version of kissing you  when you smoke.

Sunflower seeds  and gum helped me. If you slip and have a cigerette it will be like starting from square one. Cold turkey is the best way. Stay focused and you will an ex smoker.

Quitting is easy. I've done it so many times ;)
My advise is once you've stopped, stay away from ppl that smoke. It's tough when your buddies all smoke around you.

Often smoking is a habit, all you gota do is have something in your hand to represent the actions of smoking....switch up and eat chips or crackers,....instead oof smoking....its all mental you can do it!

Gotta get thru those first three weeks  and then it lets up, or at least that was about my time.

It's a big deal, nicotine is very addictive.

Gotta do it cold turkey!  No other way...especially with cigarettes.  I quit for a whole year and cold turkey was the key.  The first few weeks is extremely tough, but once you get through it, its smooth sailing from there on out.  Unfortunately, I kinda got sucked back into it recently.  Now I smoke occasionally when I drink or when I'm out on the water fishing.  Nowhere near what I used to smoke, but I'm still smoking which is not good.  Your post has motivated me to finally attempt to kick it to the curb!

The health benefits of quitting alone should be a motivating factor for us smokers, not just the money we spend on it.  Money cannot buy health!

I remember the first time I met you at Quarry lakes last year, we both had a cigarette in our hand.  Lets hope the next time we meet, that is no longer the case.  Thanks for re-motivating me James and good luck to you...I know you can do it bro!

I never really understood why a guy would need or desire something long, round and hard in his mouth to suck on.
Then again, I'm not from the bay area.  :smt044

It's a filthy, disgusting habit.  I realized the other day that almost none of my friends smoke cigarettes these days...  I know the time is coming for me to quit really soon.  I quit cold turkey for a few months a year or so ago and I wanted to kill someone, but just knowing I could stop was a relief, even if it didn't stick.

Congrats to you, and good luck.

James just think about taking an old ashtray and dumping down your throat. Yum! I quit a while ago but kept going back after time. In fact time after time. Then one day it just seemed so bad and so fucking filthy that I just never went back. The other day I was traveling and up in front of me a guy was smoking with the window down. Going 45 MPH I could still smell the stank coming from his truck. thats all it takes now. Once I awhile to remind me. Good luck james. You can do it. C.

Well today is day 3 still sucks. Went out on the yak for some therapy and I was feeling the need for a smoke bigtime on the water. Luckily there was fellow ncka on the water so the support was great.
