This has probably been asked a million and two times but I am going to ask again.  Is the only difference between a Trident and a Prowler the fancy lid on the rod pod?  Found the Trident angler at Cabelas right now for $815 and thinking about getting it.  What they have they call a Prowler T 13 angler.

http://www.cabelas.com/product/Ocean-Kayak-Prowler-T-138482-Angler/701285.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dkayak%26x%3D0%26y%3D0%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=kayak&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products

thanks for any info,
Scott

the rod pod AND the sonar shield. Keep in mind its not just the lid. Under the hatch/lid is a long opening to store rods. Which is awesome when you surf launch. . I also believe the hull shape may be slightly different (others can comment) Basically the "T" or Trident is the fishing modded version. You may be able to get a better deal locally on one with the NCKA discount. I am sure Cabelas will ream you on shipping.

You may also want to post a WTB I know a few ppl may be selling soon  :smt003

IMO there's a huge differeence between the two.  The rod pod and sonar shield are really an asset worth having but the hull sits way up out of the water and doesn't paddle all that great.  The prowler does paddle way better but sits low, is wet and no rod pod.

Actually,
If you are asking the difference between a Prowler-T and a Trident, they are very. Similar. The Trident. Is only avail at specialty shops, and come with skid pads, mod pods, and a better seat. The Prowler-T can be purchased from any store that sells O.K., but it will not have the above items.
I have both these in a 13' on sale for $799.99 ea.

One thing I am happy about all of these new Hobie lovers is the fact that there are kayaks available for great prices due to upgrades.
Please continue to sell your Tridents to upgrade fellas. Hope to pick a Trident up by Christmas!

I have been paddling a T-15 for the last 4 years. Its a great boat for me. It does sit higher than the prowler, hence more windage. A rudder would be nice to have when quartering across wind. I find that it paddles just fine. I wouldnt trade the rod pod option nor the sonar shield for a prowler. My opinion only. All gear can be safely stowed in the hull for surf launches and landings. Easy access to your stuff right in your lap also. If you keep the gear height down in the rear well area it will have way less wind problems. Its a super stable and fast fishing platform. Please demo both boats. Pm me if you would like to demo a Trident series boat. Craig. Clavey Paddlesports has 10% off always for NCKA. Buy from a local paddle shop for your bucks to stay at home. You will get great service and talk to people who can help you and understand your needs.  Small businesses need local support to stay afloat right now.

IMO, the Prowler 15 is the best bomb proof kayak ever made. LOVED mine. If the shoulders weren't shot I'd still be paddling it.
I can see the benefits of the rod pod, but I didn't have it on my previous 12 kayaks nor do I have it on my Revo or Adventure and I have survived thus far.
Best advice is try before you buy. No matter what anyone says, ultimately the decision is yours as to what works best.

If you like your ass in the water all day then the pwoler will fill(hehe) that need. If youve never used the rod pod how would you even know its attributes?

frankly speaking: I'm also very confused when trying to find difference between Prowler T15 and Trident 15 (the only major difference on paper is rod and modular pods)
I'll need to demo them, i hope it would help :)

I believe the Trident series are the same boat just the angler package difference. Mine is a non angler that was cut for a pod lid and had rod holders added by Malolo.
The older non-pod Prowler is a different boat. It was lighter and a little faster but wet inside unless you plug scuppers or are light in the saddle.

I've owned both in the 15ft version. For some reason I just didn't dig the Trident all that much and ended up selling it and keeping my Prowler. I just prefer the way the Prowler "feels" for some reason.

However,  I prefer the Trident 13 over the Prowler 13, and I still own a Trident 13 and use it in the bay every once in awhile.

I still haven't paddled the Ultra series, yet, and would like to check one out.

:groupwave I hope you get the sell and not Cabellas. I just had a lady call and ask my questions about a kayak she was going to buy off LL Bean, only to find out that she gets a better price through my store with her Lodi Paddle Club Discount. Check with local shops before you buy, you may be surprised. Its end of year for kayaks and shops are looking to move old stock.

I remember winning a kayak at BAM IV.
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but isn't that a rod pod in the middle of my kayak?????
