Now that I've got a revo, :smt044  :smt044 I've been doing more research on hobies, and re-looking up Rudy halibu77's old videos of his revo.  I want to make a bootleg AI the way he did, build my own ama's and get some trampolines.  Has anyone tried this and what do you think is the best way to build an ama? Foam, plastic? Should I use pvc for the rigging to get some flexibility, or is it too flimsy?  I was thinking 1 1/4" schedule 80 for the framework to connect to the ama, but have no clue how to build the ama itself. I know someone on here has had to of thought about this before, I can't be the only one :smt003 I need to sail baby! :smt003

Congrats on the new ride! There's a lot of give in the aka connection to the yak in the AI. Just be careful about making it too rigid and taking it out in rough conditions.

I wonder if mounting a small shock on the pontoon would help absorb shock. Damit now I'm ginna have to look and my Revo and see what I can do.

But how to make the pontoon? That is the mystery?  What about a 5" pvc pipe filled with foam and capped??

Depends are we talking about running them from bow to stern similar to the ai or simple pontoons like the Scotty's

Perhaps model the pontoons in foam, then lay fibreglass on them?

I think you can mimic the AI's design if you really want to do it.

Yes, indeed! Have to make them shaped so they won't dig in the water too hard and create drag and or break the contraption itself.  Where do you get the trampoline material?

Can't wait to hear more on this! Just put down my deposit for a 2012 Revo, hopefully get to pick mine up next week. Would like to fig out a diy ama as well. I notice it's a little tipper compared to the OB but tracks so much faster.

I've got a good supply of really strong mesh tarp material that will work perfectly
