One more revenue stream for our broke ass state to exploit!

If you don't want to do your share.  I hear Alaska has lower taxes and better fishing.  I paid $39 for my registration, I can live with it.

It fits the regs as long as it is in the forward 1/2 of the boat which it is. The nice thing is when I am running 1 ama no sail I can face it on the inside, like a reversible jacket. Then they won't hassle me for only having the CF on one side.

And you will be all set for the trolling motor MOD!

Scott - I like the color you picked!  I got mine at West Marine and out 16 stickers, 3 were bad which made make a second trip for an exchange.

The custom vinyl stickers are more Expensive than 16 individual stickers ($14 vs $22) but you get a wider range of colors and the installation is way easier because the numbers come at the proper spacing on a backing sheet. I am kind of a perfectionist and it probably would have taken me an hour to line up the 16 individual stickers. The custom vinyl stickers took me less than 10 minutes to do both sides.

The regs specify "block letters" at least 3" tall.

Be prepared to argue. Pleasanton DMV Tuesday 1:30. No appt, 3 hr wait, surly clerk.
Clerk: "you need the certof origin"
Me: Here it is:
Clerk: Not that one
Me: "arrggghh"
Clerk: What is this craft?
Me: Kayak
Clerk: u don't need to register kayaks
Me: Kayak dealer says yes and here is all the paperwork
Clerk: $92
Me: S/B $49 because of odd year
ClerK: what kind of fuel
Me; Sigh, human powered
Clerk: U don't need to register
Me: Meet my machete, I'm having a bad day
Clerk: $49 it is

Do not admit dropping the craft in the water prior to registering and don't wait more than 2 weeks?

Make sure your dealer sends you with the cert or your are hosed.

You really have to emphasize to them that it's a sail/yak regs say sail and vessel longer than 8 feet need cf number......I felt your pain but its worth it.
