Hello All,
I went out kayak fishing at Shelter Cove a couple weeks ago and I ended up getting hooked on ocean kayak fishing and can't wait to get back out. came home and found a hobie outback that I got all rigged up.

I am headed to Anchor Bay this weekend and wanted to see if anyone has any pointers or tips for fishing this area. I will be focusing on rock, lings, & Hali's.

Hopefully I will have a successful trip and post some pics next week.

Bent rod,
Rider

Thx, John.   :smt008

Welcome, Rider.  I know nothing of Anchor Bay - good luck and be careful out there.  Get all your safety gear before getting all the fishing gear.  Maybe I'll see you at the Cove.   :smt001

Anchor is a great fishing spot and a easy launch. But it is a big seal haul-out and we have encountered the "Landlord" there. Late summer through winter is "prime time" for encounters so "buddy up" for safety.

Anchor bay is a great spot. It doesn't get hardly any fishing pressure. Everyone should get there at least once. You will love it. :smt001

Got up there early Saturday morning and jumped right on the kayak. My wife joined me out in the big blue for a choppy ride. It was pretty calm until we got around the point and the sea got really big when we started o get out past fish rock at which time we went back for calmer water. We ended up with 9 blacks and she scored her first ling (29"). We went back out today and got blew off the water. The wind was pushing us to fast. She ended up catching another ling just shy of legal.

So if you haven't fished Anchor Bay I would recomend making the trip. If you do put in at Anchor Bay campground as the launching there is pretty easy over in chicken cove and you will be on the fish pretty quickly. We are going to be trekking back up there again next weekend for labor day and some more kayak fishing.

Ps. Everyone who went out for ab's came back with big easy limits.

Bent rods,
James
