Oh, great thread...gonna try this on the paddle that came w/ my 2006 Hobie. It's been stuck since I bought it as a demo model! Already have a better paddle but this will allow me to carry the original as a spare.  :smt004

I just had the same problem with my paddle....used a phillips to "pry" it apart slightly, sprayed it with PD Blaster and let it sit for a few days, used the heat method on the female end, cold on the male end....NO luck. I pushed the button so hard it broke (now I have to get a new one of those, uggg).

'Read about the pulling and hitting the ferrule with a closed fist about twenty minutes ago....IT WORKED! It was only me (and I was desperate) so I roped one end of the paddle to my tow hitch, I pulled on the other end with all my might and pounded the ferrule with my fist. To my amazement, it was coming further apart with each hit. When the paddle finally come completely apart, I could see that none of the PD Blaster had soaked down and reached the male end.

Glad it worked out Cherie. If you are ever in Monterey, stop by MBK and thank Holakai for the tip. Those island boyz have some wisdom.

Had this happen to a Werner.  Got it apart, cleaned and hit it with WD40, started sticking again after a few trips.  Lightly sanded the connection with fine grit sandpaper to knock off some of the dirt/corrosion.  No problems since then.

Here's a tip for pulling apart a stuck rod ferrel and it also works for paddle joints. Put the rod/paddle behind your knees. Grip as hard as you can, and then spread you knees. You have WAY more power in your legs, and it also helps you pull in alignment. I have undone some flyrods you swear your going to pull off the ferrel with this method. Of course with a paddle press the lock button while pulling apart. And if that doesn't work, slather on sum fish scent to lube it up.  :smt044
