How sad to see such a big beast of a sea turtle like that go belly-up.  Surely it was full grown and hopefully it died of natural causes.  It was good to fish with you Jeff.  Glad you got some more action on the frog.  Hope to do it again sometime soon.

This report, with the turtle pic, is one of the coolest reports I've read. Stuff like that is what really makes what we do special.

Regarding the turtle....I found this article from the PI

AlamNiyoBa: A huge leatherback sea turtle washed up dead along the coastal town of Estela, Lilo-an in Southern Leyte last July 27. This type of turtle is not normally found in Philippine waters.

The leatherback, the largest of all living sea turtles, was estimated to have weighed 600 kilos (1,323 lbs). The cause of its death is presently unknown but it is speculated that it could have: a) died after it swallowed a plastic bag it might have mistaken for jellyfish, its main food source; b) caught and injured by fishermen which is a crime since the leatherback is a critically endangered species or c) old age/ natural causes.

Unlike other sea turtles, the leatherback does not have a bony shell but instead its carapace is covered by skin and oily flesh. It is one of the deepest diving marine animals in the world. Its diet also helps in controlling jellyfish populations in the world's oceans.

Coolest report and find ever!

a double report is always sweet to see and read.....but seeing a dead, rare turtle, kinda kills my buzz. (butWHATcanYOUdo?) =you don't make it up, just reporting all the facts.
