That sounds odd and I'm not sure how they would get the VHF traffic online. Have to connect a scanner to a router and go from there. Keep in mind that VHF covers a lot of frequency territory. A large part of the Ham traffic is allocated in the VHF 140 MHz range. Then there is the Marine VHF band we use. Also these radios are as far as I can tell, not repeated and therefore they have a limited range. The source receiver or scanner would have to be in an area you are interested in or the traffic would be useless. Most likely the receiver would be set to one channel and if the traffic is not on that channel you're out of luck. Can't see how you could or that they would allow you to control a scanner via an IP connection. Other people would also want  access to the scan function and unless they had banks of receivers/ scanners and multiport routers it's not likely. It's an expensive proposition for minimal return.
Let me know if I'm wrong or am missing something.

There used to be a ship to shore website but its been gone for years now.  Coastsides radio network is the only one I'm aware of that's currently operating.  I haven't tried it out yet but listening is like torture when the bite is going off and you're in a cube all day  :smt012

Just browsing this whole damn site is murder when I'm sitting in my cubicle reading about all the hook-ups and events I'm gonna be missing in the next few months...
