Hey guys,
wanted to run by you'll what is the best scent for swimbaits and shripflies.  It's always a pain in the ### to get bait for tipping the lures.  I'm going to try some sardine or mack oil anyone use something diff.,  that works.  Ran across a seg. on  angler west, they seem to live by the scents.

Pro cure gels, in your preference of scent....they stick to baits well and stay on for a while

Thanks for the reply, which pro cure scent do you suggest for the ocean.

Herring, krill and saltwater, whatever is handy....honestly, I'm not convinced that one works better than the other. I really just use it as a masking agent to cover up human smells on my soft baits.  I don't really fish flys and never use it on the iron.

I use bloody tuna gel for nearly everything.  If I have time then I inject or soak my plastic baits in pro-cure herring oil or sardine/anchovy oil.

On Father's Day, went out of Santa Cruz on the Velocity and just happened to use BT on my Big Hammers for 6 lings, of which 4 were keepers and a half dozen assorted rockfish.

Uni butter works wonders on plastics. Just have to sit on it a while to warm it up and get it flowing. I think hook1 carries it now.

I knot some yarn right behind the hook eye or lead head - soaks up the oils

I use Pro Cure Herring gel. Works well I think and it stays on longer than the oil I think. I take oil too. In one of the depressions on the rod pod cover I put oil or gel in it and let the Big Hammers soak in it while going back to the top of the drift.

Haven't tried any of the strip baits, but have used the Gulp saltwater bait fish and slayed greenling in the WA San Juans. They worked pretty well for big cabbies and lings, too. Pearl white.
