I've been fishing for RF and Lings for long time.   I use to fish Cordell Banks and Fanny Shoals when it still open and experienced catching giants.
When I started all we had were chrome diamond bars and a few colors of scampi's for artificials. Sometimes add small piece of squid.

Anglers back then were catching just as good without using all the hi tech baits available now.   My deck hand friend would joke with me every time somebody brings out a christmas tree ornaments set up.  The experienced guys stuck to the basics.  Diamond bar on the bottom and teaser shrimp fly a foot above with a piece of squid.  Switch it up with a white or rootbeer scampi once in a while.
This set up won the boat jackpot 90% of the time.

Diamond bars and BIG white scampi... I could not agree more.

I inject the oil into tray baits, and smear gel all over plastics. Pro-cure all the way. I use them, but I don't have enough experience to tell you wether or not they truly make a difference. Some guys swear by them. I like to think they mask the unfamiliar scent of a human, rather than attract fish. Just what I think.

Not a scientific study by any means but, when I use Pro-Cure (ghost shrimp) oil on my flies I catch more rockfish and ling. Don't know if it just masks my scent or not but, other brands have not worked as well.
I tried the Pro-Cure on the fly and some other anchovy oil on the swimbait and not in two days did I ever even get a bite on the swimbait.  The one white/red shrimp fly got hammered to the point of destroying it. My limited two scents worth.  :smt003

Ever since I started using ProCure (Ricci and Wes use it and have great results) my catch rates have increased drastically on stripers and bass....

P.S.  Up here in Humboldt Co. the CVS pharmacies stock almost all of the Pro-Cure scents (and a bunch of other brands) and their prices are good. Who knew that a pharmacy had such good fishing tackle and prices?
