I used to do some pier fishing and I have a cooler box rigged for live bait. I'd like to see if there's any interest from you guys because I'm planning to pick some up that Sunday morning. From past experience, 5-6 live chovies usually can keep one baited for the morning but you prob will need at least a 1 gal bucket with an aerator or holes+tied into water to keep them alive.

Btw, anchovies are waaaaay cheaper than live shiners. $15 will net me 80-100? I'll buy accordingly pending the interest and just set up a donation jar next to it on the day of event.

Hey Jedmo,

How do you keep your anchovies?  Do you use a live well or is there another simple way?

Thanks for the offer R.S.  I'd like to have dozen off them if you don't mind.

Me too. 6 would be great.

Are you sure that Berkeley Marina receiver guy has anchovies?
10 days ago I talked to my buddy who is a capt for the party boats out of that marina and he said that the anchovies weren't in at that time.

I'll bring a sabiki just in case.

Btw can you save the dead ones for me? I am hoping to make tray bait so I'll put them on ice.  I'll be in a yellow Hobie driving a white Subaru Outback.
Thanks
Daviator

I'll take a doz. What time are you picking them up? How are you transporting them? Chovies are pretty delicate, not gonna last long without lots of "fresh" water supply. Simple aeration won't help much.

Forgot how many gallons my cooler holds but its the $40 one from walmart w/ wheels. Have a dual aeration system and berkeley is only 10 minutes away. They will be good, at least until im in the water. Also, the berkeley receiver opened shop last Thursday, so 10 days ago? I will be picking them up around 6 am.
