I plan on getting a gopro for my many spearfishing adventures this year, but I have never used one before.  Anyone have any tips/tricks/pointers?  Also, what mount should I use?  Thanks all!  -=Brian=-

PS:  Was thinkin about just getting one from REI so I can easily return it for any reason...

a lot of folks use the head strap , big jim posts at least 1 new video a week so I'm sure he will chime in.

i mount mine to my speargun with a MAKO gun mount .

a little bit of trial and error until you get the angle right , my videos i made never come out right , angles always ether too high or too low. GoPros are great though!

Thanks!  What about video editing software?  Does the camera come with it or do yall have a preferred program?

I use Sony Vegas. It's good. My GoPro is one of my favorite toys. It has so many uses.

Please keep the tips coming.  I just bought a GoPro HD Hero.  I discovered a 2 year old REI Christmas gift card that I hadn't used.  That combined with the 20% REI discount and annual membership dividend added up nicely.  My outta-pocket was only $50.

I haven't opened the box yet.  I know the masses use GoPro, but I'm considering trading it for the Contour Roam which about the same price at REI.  It has a cooler, slimmer look and a nice laser aiming feature might be better for other things I like to do like shotgunning and archery.

Headstrap under the hood! Quick and easy!  :smt003

The angle which usually works best for me is 2-3 fingers between the back of the housing and my head...experiment a bit and you'll get it.

I use my wife's computer which is a Mac and came with iMovie so that's all I know.

Get the flat lens from mako if you haven't already.

Have fun!!

Sincerely,

Jim

Yeah...I don't know what you are talking about.

That was some stressful sh*t! Think Gomez had a similar mishap as well, and he also managed to recover his!

LOL!
