Got to the lake early afternoon and walked along some fishy areas. Got to catch and release one 15 inch LMB. Used a  Saber Tail plastic grub on a jig head (one of my few bass confidence lures) Hiked some more and saw a pack of huge carp pushing each other into inches of water. Have some video - will post soon.

Going back there on Thursday and might even try fishing for carp - any advise on how to catch these monsters would be appreciated.

fishin is fishin! right on Joel.

I was loaned a copy of a great UK fish cookbook (can't recall the name) and they were all about what a great table fish carp is. I always thought they were nasty, but I've never tried eating one.
Most of the carp pics I see show the fish with an arrow hole in it :smt002

is that the lure that BassProShops had discontinued, due to its deadly fish fooling properties?

Catching any bass from shore requires GREAT SKILL and SOLID CONFIDENCE.

I smash bread into dough around a treble hook and toss it out there, fly-line style. I haven't fished for carp since i was a kid banking it at Newark lake. Awesome carp fishery there. As far as eating it goes...I think Ranch 99 in Pleasanton has it right.

Canned corn works great.  Or you can make a homemade dough bait out of corn meal and kool aid.
If you ain't first, you're last.

Was fun seeing ya yesterday for a few Joel  :smt002  We will crack the secret of the bass in this lake  :smt044  Try the plain ol' cheap bread, like WONDER bread.  Or try a dough bait, there are a MILLION recipies out there for them, but I just use; flour, caned tuna in oil (use mostly the oil, and small bits of tuna), sugar and maybe some syrup.  Start with like a cup of flour and add in more until you get a pretty firm dough.  Once you put it in a container, it will soften up a bit more and be pretty sticky.

Or you can take these guys advice  :smt044
