The ab opener looks very rough, but the first glimpses of the end of next week look more reasonable.  I am on vacation from 4/7 through 4/15, so I'll be aiming to hit the Cove at least once for a day long mission.  I can hardly hold it together right now typing about this - I'm SO excited and ready to troll the ocean.

I don't want anyone wasting a day off and long trip for nothing, but if you're interested then keep a close eye - I'll provide a timely report (iphone from the Cove) and tight details on how and where to get a chance at a salmon.  If this season starts off with a bang like it looks like it might...  I gotta just reel in my salmonwood and bide my time.

One more week of work and it's time for some business to get done.  :smt004

No Dave, just to Horse Mountain which is about 5 miles north of shelter cove.  Trinidad should open in May sometime.

2 per day 20 inch min. for now, I'm excited.

Can't wait to try for Salmon in the"Cove".  With my only Salmon, ever being an out of season accidental catch, it's time to get one for real.  I look forward to the intel Eric.

Your simple post of going salmon fishing has caused a salmonmania.  I and many others will be looking for the pink.

It's funny, Allan, I've moved to fishing an anchovie or herring almost all the time - whether targeting salmon, rockfish/lingcod, or halibut.

Banana weight (6 ounce), barbless mooching slip rig on 3' leader, slow troll where you can try to be close to the bottom, but the best days are when you're like 12 pulls out and salmon are knocking the shit out of it!  One day every chovie in two bags got hammered!   :smt007

MMMmmm I can taste it now.  Nothing like a fresh ocean caught salmon after a good workout on the water.  Straight from the filet board to a hot grill or oven with just a lil salt and pepper and a lil bit olive oil rubbed on it.

I have plenty of crescent mooching/trolling sinkers poured and ready to roll.  I need to prep some herring for the Brads cut plugs.  Also I need to tie a bunch mooching rigs.

*I need to buy a vehicle that gets 40+ miles a gallon.  My truck drank over $500 last month. Thats nuts!

No kidding, Rob - the Cove's a $45 gas commitment at this point.  I can fit two X-Factors on the rack...   :smt001
