On the wife's list.

Here is a question.  Has anyone ever toyed with idea or expanding insulation as a means to provide additional floatation?  I'm thinking of the type that expands for home use.  I think contractors can get it in large containers...maybe?  A very permanent solution but i could see it working.

Tad let me know if you spot any around here, my wife's dog got into my stock pile and quickly turned 20 pool noodles into neon popcorn scattered across the backyard.  :smt012

Regarding the expanding foam, I use it on the back of my hawg trough, inside the handle of my net, and a few other places but I wouldn't go filling the boat with it. That stuff is a mess to work with and a more 'permanent' modification.

I recall a past thread. I think that stuff hold water (as in open cell) so it may end up being a mold and smell magnet

Yummy!  Nothing like the foul smell of mildew in your yak.   It may beat rotting fish but barely.

Questions for the noodle experienced.
the question is How Many? Thanks. Your input is appreciated.
The million dollar question :smt002
Here is my take on it,
some is better than none,
20 better than 2.
stuff it in the areas not needed for storage and what works best for you.
they are cheap and easily removed or added.
I think the extra floatation is just to keep it from sinking and not to be still functional with a hull full of water.
carry a hand operated bilge pump if you want to keep it functional.
As for mold/mildew,  drain it well after each use and leave hatches open when you store it, evaporation should keep that to a minimum.
Thats my take on it, but I haven't personally tested the theory and never want to :smt002 :smt009

Thanks BANJOTAD. Sorry, moved my topic to "gearing up". I was curious whether folks got new noodles yearly or not. My local dollar store just got the small diameter ones in today.   You can't be ready for every circumstance but noodles seem like cheap insurance to me and maybe a little piece of mind on the ocean (at least for me).
