Who's up for another fishing tournament?
Big Brothers Big Sisters is having their annual  fundraiser event on Sunday, LABOR Day weekend.    I've offered to donate our new SOT model as a grand prize towards this endeavor.      The idea is to combine their annual sailing regatta that starts in the afternoon with a Halibut fishing tournament that will start at 7am.    I'm looking for some feedback from the collective.  If there's enough people interested in signing up , we may be able to turn this into an annual NCKA event.
Tickets will  cost 45 dollars which will include an excellent BBQ dinner and raffle prizes.   In the past West Marine donates a gift certificate valued at 25 dollars.       For anyone who may wish to participate in the sailboat race, the ticket price is 60 dollars.      For more information,      http://www.santacruzmentor.org/Events_Regatta.html  ( link is from last years event)      Held at the harbor, Santa Cruz Yacht Club.
Largest halibut will win this new model  Raptor ST  ( and bragging rights  :smt001 )

That looks sweet. A hali tourny sounds good. I don't mean to be a downer but I worry that a bunch of Sailboats and Kayaks might not be a good mix?

Is that a SOT raptor? Now what will the nay-sayers say. At the very least can I demo that bad boy!

Will support your Halibut event Baitman.

Looking at your new Kayak, will that center oval tray have an optional lid, if say one wanted to cut that out for storage?

Awesome !!!       I'll let Marie at BBBS know.   This really is a great event, there's a ton of great raffle prizes offered.

The sailboat races don't start until 1;00 pm.      I was thinking the final deadline entry would be at 1:00,  that way all the sailboats will be out of the harbor leaving the place relatively empty.    It's open for discussion.
We can use both ramps, but  the kayak ramp near Aldos will probably be best for the return.   Parking is 5 dollars for all day pass.
Kayaks only please...  with the caveat, you can power it ; pedal , paddle, sail, or,,,, electric.  :smt044
This event is open to all kayak entrants, including non- NCKA members.

BTW   The photos  were just taken yesterday.  That's about a thousand pounds of wood dressed up to look like a kayak.   The bow and center hatches still need to be fabricated.   The mold is nearly finished, but we're still about 6 weeks away from going into production with it.

Sometimes the fish isn't the only prize.

Jim - I'm going to try to make it as well. Looks fun.  Thanks for organizing.

The SOT looks interesting.  Are you planning to add scuppers in the tank well, seat, foot wells?  Good luck with the new model!

Sounds like a perfect plan for me. My family and I already reserved a tent site for three nights in Felton on Memorial weekend. It is only 8 miles away. I would like to be there to support and I think I deserve some bragging rights.  :smt003
