After breaking my face and wrist in September, I took the cast off my wrist early and the docs said it looked good and I resumed my daily life of "overdoing it".  Though I have been dealing with the pain of a very very sore wrist for the last 6 months, i realized it had become too much when I nearly passed out in screaming pain after a bad bounce-back while demoing a short stone wall on Thursday.  Once lucid, I made an appointment with my doctor to have this wrist looked at again.

now, my repeatedly re-injured wrist is back in a cast.  The doctor wants it on 6 weeks, then possibly another 6 after that if i have not been kind enough to the wrist.  I wont be getting it wet this time (learned something from last time) so no kayaking for 6 weeks.   :smt010

but I think I can still fish   :smt003

If it's the "navicular", a peanut shaped bone at the base of the thumb, I know what you're going through.  I broke mine 12 years ago next month and was incredulous when the first doc I saw said I need a "thumb-spica" cast for 6 weeks and then another shorter cast for another 6 weeks.  It's no joke - if that bone doesn't heal properly you'll be disabled to some extent.  Take care of it, Jim, and get it well for GS6.

To close to the water and I don't want to catch hell from his Prego wife (congrat's again by the way) I also don't have a tandem in my fleet :smt005

You guys dont know what you are talking about. Cast and fishing go hand in hand! Last I checked James, the good lord blessed you with a spare hand!
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

lol, thanks guys :)

The Scaphoid is what I damaged, it looks like i broke it 3 or 4 weeks ago...but it was on Sept 2 last year, no good  :smt011

I learned to flyfish at 14 after an incident with the washing machine tried to twist my arm off but only managed to rupture 8 inches of my left humerus.  4 months in a whole arm cast. but I had thumb and finger action, so I could grip fly line but not turn a reel handle...

and sadly I have already started making temporary modifications to reel handles so I can grip them with my index finder and the thumb spica   :smt003

and we are leaving on vacation for Missouri on Thursday and laready have 5 days of fishing and boating planned, but mom was bummed I wont be kayaking with her, lol.  I guess she will just have to share space on the crestliner  :smt005

Check it out once the implant heals in, I won't need to "carry"a cell phone, GPS, or flashlight ever again.  Sweet :smt004

Take it easy Jim and get 100 percent! Nothing really biting worth a damn on the AR right now anyways.

Get caught up on the tv shows! Start watching Glee from season 1.   Hahaha
