Thanks for the follow up, I'd hate to lose that spot too. I always wondered/worried how they take the rockfish opener with all that activity on the beach. Might be nice to get a pulse on that too!

That is a great question, I would be glad to bring this up.  If you have more concerns, please feel free to PM me with them.  I will post publicly on what I will cover, and more than happy for input!  We plan on starting it slow with the beach cleanup... then maybe can work our way up to other things.

Just got off the phone with Kris Butterfield - Manager of The Beach & Tennis Club of SWS.  She mentioned that my call was the best thing she has heard in a long time.  She is excited that we want to participate in helping make folks aware of the rules, and to lend a hand in doing beach cleanup.  She is checking her schedule to let me know what days would be available, and she insisted that her staff and the public are warmly welcomed to participate in the event.  I expressed to her some of the ideas that I have received and she was willing to discuss those items with upper management/lawyer on those topics.  I mentioned to her that I will keep the forums that I am a member of updated with the information that she provides me.  She gave us many thanks and asked for my contact information.

I will keep you all posted, I think we are going to have a great relationship with SWS, now that we can contribute back and educate new folks to the beach.

:smt023 Thanks for taking the initiative! I'll be happy to participate.

I guess most of us are like Boy Scouts  -  leave the place cleaner than when you got there!  I know a lot of us pick up a lot of stuff that is floating on the water, and I know that divers are always picking up stuff (being safety hazards and all) from the bottom.

Not trying to a captain, just trying to open the doors for communication, to show them that we care.  It's more of a collaboration, teamwork.  Will make sure I talk less and show more action, and also consult a few others before speaking.

Right on Chaeki!  I'm in for the clean up!  I haven't been to SWS yet but plan on hitting it up this coming season for sure.

SWS is getting too popular for us kayakers and divers.  Used to be an unwritten rule for no kayak parking on the main lot.
This year they posted a no kayak parking sign.  3 years ago there were about a dozen guys showed up for the  RF opener.
Last year there were at least 30.

Yeah buddy way to go!!!
Thanks for taking the first step. The first step is always the hardest.
I'm sure that this will undoubtedly help the reputation for all of us who use this facility (good or the occasional d-bag).
I can guarantee the management / residents would rather keep us out of their world no matter what the cost. With all of the money in the area I doubt it would take much to keep us out!
If we follow through the management might field some complaints but at least they can respond with some positive things we have done for them.
Count me in for anything we can do to improve the situation.
Thanks again for taking the initiative to put the gears in motion.

Nice work Chaeki on hopefully making our impact a little less felt over there. Count me in for the clean up as well although my work schedule has been crazy. I too can't believe someone would clean fish in that nasty crapper.

If we loose this spot then we'll be stuck in Monterey when the swell picks up. :smt009

I was there for Big Jim's bday dive/bbq yesterday. I'd also like to help out....in fact, I want to dive the shoreline and pick-up discarded golf balls. Lot's and lot's of 'em out there  :smt011  Either there are really bad golfers out there or some of them just don't give a fuck.....just like the Honey Badger.

This ones for you jim  :smt003 (sorry, I just never get tired of watching this vid :smt044)

*By the way, some EFERS tried to steal dpshims other kayak while he was out diving. He was parked by the "tree lot" and when came he back from his dive, his straps were undone. Good thing he cable-locked his kayak as a precaution. We think the efers did not see the lock until after they undid the straps.

Mooch- My ff bag temporarily became my golf ball bag last season and I picked about about 60. A cove on the southern point seems to collect them so I take breaks in to clean em up. Diving for them would be awesome
Add tee's and some 10/22's and the fun never ends. They can be shot over and over and last quite a while. They also offer the option of MOVING TARGET! :smt003

I believe you! It's unfortunate no one really says anything about it. Perhaps we can shed some light on this issue now  :smt045

I find it hard to imagine that anyone is hitting them in the water on purpose there moochieboy, its extremely easy to have a ball veer off course.  While I'm sure many are bad.....I don't think its that hard to lose one in the drink.

If anything I say we shed light by having a golf ball round-up dive, complaining won't solve anything.
