I have to disagree on those numbers, a 16" stocker (stickfish) will not weigh the same as a native (football) fish IMO, but I guess it's a guide line to start with.
Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

The stocker will likely weigh more look at how fat the mutants from Amador are plus they have no tail so you are just measuring the body. A 16" fish from there might be 19" if it had a tail.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

:smt044 :smt044 :smt044 I was referring to real fish  :smt003

Without a girth measurement it can't be accurate.

THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID! :smt044 :smt044 :smt044  Sorry, I had to do it hahaha!

There are skinny native fish too...abundance of forage, season, temps, etc. Too many variables to account for...to get an accurate length/weight chart that works for the entire country, much less within CA. We'd probably have to do one specific to each lake. Which might actually be a cool project.

I had a deformed mutant a couple weeks ago that was the size of a twenty in her up to the adipose fin, from there it looked like a fourteen inch fish. Around 2lbs.

I've seen several trout posted on here that did not even cover the trough that were 3-4-5 lb'ers. Wrong. Then you here, well it was a fat one.

That'd put my 28.5 inch brown a touch over 9 pounds.  Sweet  :smt003.  I never trust myself with estimating fish weights, so I'm mostly content with just knowing lengths.  I wouldn't use the rainbow trout table for estimating the weight of a brood stock hatchery fish--I think a largemouth bass table would be a more accurate substitute  :smt044.

I agree with that one. I was loking for a chart that describes a normal size trout. Your brown from a few weeks ago Chris was fantastic. I could only imagine.

And it matters WHY?
Does someone posting that they caught a fish that was 3lbs matters even if it wasnt.
Way to be professional.
Wouldnt expect this?

I dont really care what you expect. It was for general information only. Some people find it helpful . I did.  Some fish I thought were bigger than they were, then looked at by others gave me a greater sense of whats really the weight compared to the size. If you dont care to use it fine. I dont care like I said.
