With or without a grand prize I would have gone either way because i'm looking forward to chilling with my bros and hopefully catching some crabs!  Thanks to Victor, we have a great event to start off the new year!  And thanks to Dan we do have a grand prize, and thanks to Promar we have other prizes as well, for this FREE tournament!   Do I really think that Dan was trying to take advantage of this site or Victor??  Hell no!  :smt004  So, there was some miscommunications...  I'm sure the lesson has been learned, lets all move along shall we?

This will be the YEAR OF GREAT EVENTS, I can just feel it!   :smt003

Hell yeah! Well put Al!

Hello to my NCKA family,

First of all I want to say that I am looking forward to hanging out with all of you this weekend. It’s going to be an awesome gathering of kayakers from all different backgrounds.

I met with Dan this morning and we had a great talk and a lot of laughs. Dan has been extremely helpful with this event and I am glad to have him and The Headwaters on board . This is the first kayaking event that I have hosted and I feel that The Headwaters has helped in many ways to make it a success.

It’s also important to remember that there are some other great sponsors that are helping out with this event. Dan was able to team up with Swift paddles and they are donating a custom paddle that will be raffled off after the potluck. Also a big thank you goes out to Chuck E. for getting Promar to donate a variety of prizes.

Most of this wouldn’t be possible without the family that is NCKA. NCKA is a great vehicle that helps get Kayak anglers together and have a great time. Plus having an event gives a reason for all of us to get together. I know that without the sponsors we would have had a great turnout because NCKA can never turndown an opportunity to hang out and eat.  :smt044

On a side note, I also understand where some of my fellow NCKA brothers were coming from with their posts and know that you were looking out for my best interest. That’s why I love NCKA, we are a family and we stand up for each other.

Planning events isn’t easy and I give credit to those who do this year after year. This is a big learning experience and it will only get better each year. Dan and I agree that there are things we could have done better, and will apply those learned lessons to the next event.

See you all this weekend!

Group hug on the jetty at noon.  :smt005

Oh Yah and I think 9:45 will work better with the low tide, will allow all of us to fit on the Jetty.

I just wanted to personally congratulate Victor and Dan and Headwaters for throwing on this event. YOU GUYS ARE DOING A GREAT JOB! Coming from an Event Host, it does get diffcult at times to run an event, but in the end and with the help and backup from our brothers here in NCKA, it will ALWAYS work itself out. NCKA ROCKS AND I KNOW THIS WILL BE A HELL OF AN EVENT! WHO WOULDNT WANT CRABS! :smt044....LIKE AL SAID, THIS IS THE YEAR OF GREAT AND I MEAN GRRREEAAATTT EVENTS! Lets start the year off with a bang and get together at the first doran crabfest and live it up! Thank You Victor and Dan for organizing this event and giving us yak junkies something to do!  :smt005....Not sure yet if I'm gonna make it, want to badly, but crossing my fingers! Hopefully a day trip, dont count me out yet. Ricci
