Moving along ... who really cares?  If someone happened to read that article and showed up at the event, they'd immediately know that vwool was running the show, that Headwaters was supporting it, and that NCKA was participating.  And you guys would offer that guy a plate of food, stuff him beyond belief, and welcome him into our little corner of the world.  Some things will never change ...

Just make damm sure any non-NCKAers show up to participate in this event sign the waiver!

Yep! That's what got me in.... Hope any "outsiders" coming to the event remember that a potluck means bring something to share :smt044 More people means more food :smt005 All good things... This sport will explode over the next few years and we will be able to say we are NCKA, we are the sport... (and we have the best food!!!) Thanks Victor (vwool) And Headwaters and all that bring ADOBO to the event :smt005 :smt005 :smt005

without Headwater sponsorship to this event it would most liekly to a Crab and Cill with maybe 10 to 15 people at the max.

I disagree with you numbers...

With or without a grand prize I would have gone either way because i'm looking forward to chilling with my bros and hopefully catching some crabs!  Thanks to Victor, we have a great event to start off the new year!  And thanks to Dan we do have a grand prize, and thanks to Promar we have other prizes as well, for this FREE tournament!   Do I really think that Dan was trying to take advantage of this site or Victor??  Hell no!  :smt004  So, there was some miscommunications...  I'm sure the lesson has been learned, lets all move along shall we?

This will be the YEAR OF GREAT EVENTS, I can just feel it!   :smt003

Yeah Bro's, I signed up early, didn't look at who was giving away what or what I could win...
I saw Victor was involved and knew I wanted to learn how to kayak crab, so IN I went.
Totally selfish reasons! :smt044

With all the early season success I think a lot of folks are hip to crab, and this event will
bring a bunch of us 2gether.

It seems NCKA should get a mention - next time I hope!

BTW I'll be in campsite #106 still trying to decide what my potluck dish will be. :smt003

I'm not trying to carry on this argument, but I agree with Mooch. A lot of us are going simply to hang out with good friends we might only get to see a few times a year, and I'm pretty sure much more than 15 ppl woulda showed up without the incentive of a kayak (but that is super cool that one was donated!!!).

Hell, I'm not even going to bring my yak on Sunday....

OK,
What I said in plain English, Dan did nothing wrong, Head Waters did nothing wrong. The person who wrote the article should have gone to the organizer and got the scoop. It was a bad job on the writer no one else. That should have been addressed by the Co. publishing the article. ALL ELSE IS POSITIVE.

Oh , news flash, we are now fishing on the ocean. :smt044

I heard a rumor that some guys even put a fishfinder on them......crazy stuff goin on.

After reading the article I thought the thread was kind of silly guys.......then after I seen the pic of this guy......

I think he deserves some slack on this one.  Grizzly Adams grandpa probably hasn't come down off the mountain long enough to know what a forum is, let alone the politic'in that comes with it.

My interpretation of this whole situation....Guy with a blog sees flyer, talks with sponsor, publishes story, all 10 of his blog readers see it.  End of story.....what really happened here?
..........agarcia is just an ex-kayaker

Hey gang,

I'm going to say a quick piece and then I'm going to say no more. First off I met with my good buddy Vwool this morning at the shop and we had to laugh. We feel like we have really made it with this one. Here we are two guys that love to fish and love to paddle. Victor has a ton of crabbing experience I have 0. I have a fair amount of promoting experience and so we decided to team up for Crabfest. For the record this is 100% Victors idea. We learned so much while planning and promoting this event. I learned to always give credit where credit is due. Vwool Thanks for allowing me to be a big part of Crabfest. I got so caught up with the excitement about promoting this that I forgot that its really Victors baby and he is allowing me to be a team mate on the event. He went above and beyond to drive to Lodi and teach a class on crabbing to 20 people who had never fished from a kayak heard of much less heard of NCKA.  He is a true ambassador for the sport and a great resource for me and my shop. But more important than all of that Victor is a great friend and an awesome paddling buddy.

Headwaters has always had this weird gray area between being a business and being a paddling group. I think that what happens when you mix your business with your passion for kayaking, and seeing people come together. I host countless events throughout the year that attract paddlers from all over Nor Cal. 90% being free. I have always believed that if there is a solid community of people doing trips and paddling than there will always be a need for a pro shop like Headwaters. One hand washes the other.

I'm so stoked about this weekend. I can't wait for all the non NCKA members to meet you guys and feel your good vibes, and I also can't wait for you all to meet them and pick up on their good vibes. All and all its going to be a blast and everyone will benefit from it. G-whiz, I know you and Victor are friends, I can see where you are coming from. Thanks for sticking up for him and I take all your criticism to heart. I will make a much better effort in the future to give credit where credit is due.

THANKS VWOOL!!!!!

Thanks Lodi Paddle Club, Thanks California Paddlers Hub, Thanks Liquid Fusion, Thanks New Directions Paddling Club, Thanks Headwaters Adventure Company for helping Victor and I promote this event. Its going to be one hell of a party!
