ADVISORY:  I'll accept postmarked entries up til Tax Day.  That's it!

So the last date accepted would be April 17th, 2012, right?

Being that the official "Tax Date" falls on a Sunday, in conjunction with Monday being a 'Federal Holiday', the deadline for filing taxes is actually 11:59 on  Tuesday, April 17, 2012. { just thought I'd share that with ya'll..... :smt005

I actually did factor that in, thank you!  Having received 23 entries in the final 3 days of reg last year I thought matching the tax deadline was fair and clear.  :smt001

I'll say it here:  SORRY, but NO late entries will be accepted.

Not even an IF -  :smt001
Its not that I doubt they are there, I just remember seeing this from last year:

http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=30991.msg329319#msg329319

If the ocean goddess permits favorable diving conditions, I will make sure we have some fresh sashimi!

True that - don't want to get too excited and promise the world!   :smt003  We'll hope for the best and make lemonade if necessary.  The minus tides will allow for reaching in holes for urchins and abs even if it's rough, but it's not as practical and fun as diving in water with some reasonable clarity.   :smt001
I'd be up for some uni also. I'll need a lesson in how to clean them. last time i did it I made kind of a mess. is the roe fully developed this time of year? My previous experience was with red urchins. they seemed bigger.

I've heard of over 150 at a couple San Diego tournies. Wouldn't wanna deal with numbers that big!

It is not about the the numbers, it is the quality of the experience. I have fished SCAL tourneys and they don't compare to ours for the following reasons:
#1 We are a brotherhood and sisterhood that cant be compared to any other. We actually like each other and want each other to succeed, not true in SCAL :smt011
#2 Our events are actually a multi-day camping experience not a 1 day tourney
#3 The potluck and food are a huge part of the event and experience almost more important than the fishing. I think the loose screws have set this standard.

As far as launch logistics, GS has a large launch zone and unlike the Moyer, it is not a shotgun launch. The natural selection of hard core anglers launching at grey light vs hard core party folk launching around noon helps ease the launch issues.  :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

Well said, Scott, and I've tried to keep it quality over quantity by only making reg materials available here and promoting it only here, at our sister site of NWKA, and an entry on LCKA's FB - that combined with the early closing of registration is testament to the popularity of Gimme Shelter, and I'm very happy with that. But being biggest on west coast with all the rest considered would be cool, I admit.  :smt001

Eric -

The distance from LA to SD is 90 minutes. The distance from SF to Shelter Cove is 3 hours+. The fact that you can get 100+ guys and gals to drive that far with gas costs off the chart is a testimony of the quality of the event. As Dylan said, don't think twice its all right.
