Don't be sorry Eric, my fault. Been so involved with work and family stuff I need to reboot and participate. So I left for Maui last Sat for ten days. Ready to rock and roll now. I'll post a new thread right after my nap haha!

Can't wait!  I just poured my first mould for making my own swim baits.  I'm gonna have to make a couple hundred to recoup my cost but making my own baits just seemed like a natural thing to do.  GS-6 will be my first opportunity to try them out.  Making my own beer and and baits!  What could be better, other than fishing Shelter Cove with the "Screws" and the rest of the NCKA gang.

I'm gonna be driving up Wednesday AM...

Looking to dive for abs and fish on Wednesday PM, Thursday and Friday before tourney day on Saturday.

Will rest and recover Sunday and either cruise home Sunday afternoon or Monday AM.

Thinking of launching the yak and paddling up North around the Abalone Point area and exploring over there underwater.

Let me know if anybody wants to join me!

If you have time Eric and can show me around a bit that would be awesome!!

Awesome! I'm looking forward to yak diving over there this year...had a rough time past two years on shore diving spots, and am hopeful that being off shore a bit in the yak will allow me to move around and explore a little better.

Perching can be fun, but you did read this year's rules, right?  No more perch or flounder in the tournament.  I don't want yaks plugging up the launch area by perch fishing in there on tournament day.  Flounder didn't factor in the past two years, so we'll leave them alone.  Both those species may have just been targets to kill for points too, so that's another reason I've changed it up. 

Can we fish salmon on Friday?

I anticipate that salmon season will be open by early April, but we won't know for several more weeks.

Pacific Halibut season is slated to open May 1st, and I expect more to be caught this year as there has been an upward trend on sport halibut landings along the north coast the past few years.

Jim - I too plan to get down there for some pre-fishing and diving, and I'd love to yak to a more remote dive spot with you.  Since scoring good viz and calm water at Ab Point is tough even in summer I think we may have our best potentials around the impressive minus tides that will occur mid mornings.
