Didn't save the picture but one of my most memorable was a picture of the empty hawg trough as the fish did an quick exit 

Heh, my bluegill from 2 years ago did that. got one good pic, then a pic of it in the air as it flailed and got away 

There are 3 crappie pics from last year that sucked. Mine being one of them. You can probably figure out the other two.

So you're saying there are three crappy crappie pics?

This is CRAPPIE picture taking. I could give ten reasons as to why this was ok in my mind last year but this year its not. Do you in AOTY have a picture that you are not quite proud of so that others in AOTY can make determinations as to just what is an acceptable picture for this year? I have seen a few over the years.

Some more tips and tricks as to what we'll look for ... if the gills are flared with the mouth open, it will be DQ'd.

At least you can see the mouth in my LMB pic.  :smt044When the rules were mouth closed period it was alot easier. Thats what the rules were two years ago Eric. The rules this year say mouth pinched or forced open will be immediate DQed. Please make the AOTY boards job easier.

There is nothing in the rules about mouth not being pinched.

Hate to change the subject but-
I'M IN, just paid and registered yesterday.

BTW I think I had a shitty pic(or 2) last year, sometimes the subjects just won't sit still for their portrait.

the only thing i really dislike about pics is when people pinch tails.  the fish should be sitting in a natural pose with mouth closed if possible!

I think you are just jealous that our fishes have complete tails to pinch.
