I got a hallpass to play this weekend.  Was thinking of hitting the cabin in Cazadero.  What can we do up there?

1) Russian Steelhead if the river drops into shape.
2) Fort Ross spearfishing and perch fishing
3) Lake Sonoma Trout
4) sneak up to Lake Mendo and test drive an X-Factor ... uh, I mean fish for stripers.

Anyone interested in joining me?  I have a place for us to crash up there.  Contrary to some of you, I do take beer as payment, perferably Mirror Pond Pale Ale.  Joel and Bill can share the downstairs fish room!  Yes, there is a fish room.

Sat And Sun
NW winds 10 to 20 kt. Wind waves 2 to 4 ft. W swell 11 to 14 ft.

That's a no on fort ross spearfishing/perching.  Guess I'll be shaking out my gear.

And I'm guessing the rains later in the week are going to blow out the Russian.  Ahhh ... I hate it when a plan falls apart.

Sturgeon anyone?

Strugeon or surf perch, the swell is going to be pretty big this weekend so no ocean trips. Do perch still bite in big surf?

Bill,

The perch do bite...But...it is better when it is not so rough.

You wanna try further south? I hear marina state beach near Monterey is good, also Manresa is supposed to be pretty good as well.

I am down for wherever though.

Pole-I am fishing with a customer Fri, I can let you know what mmendo is like.  I should also be picking up at least one x-factor by then as well.

The Russian has been high and dirty over the last week.

I don't mind fishing perch further South - I know kick fish Ken knows some hotspots down that way......

Ken?.....I believe it is time to share your hotspots with the brotherhood  :smt003

Rockaway or along the shorelines of Pacifica might be good.....

If we catch enough - we can BBQ it over at my place in HMB  :smt041  OR I can just bring my portable grill with us  and cook it on the spot  :smt007

Or if the tide is low enough, we can also poke pole for eels (I got extra poles - if anyone needs one)

company welcome!

I was thinking about bringing some kids perch fishing at Stinson or a closer beach this Saturday, but the swell and surf is predicted to be big.  I'm sure we can still catch a few perch, but I doubt it'll be as good as last Saturday.  Big surf will make for tougher fishing, plus, I don't think I want the responsibility of kids around in those conditions.

I talked to SteveS, we might fish for sturgeon around the China Camp or the Pumphouse.

I may be up for Alviso if we can get in.  I might also be up for somewhere else for variety, like striper bycatch.  We didn't see too m any signs for that at Alviso the last time we were there.

The China Camp area is notorious for striper catches while sturgeon fishing.  I think someone's caught a striper everytime we've gone out.
