I apologize to any Tibetan Budhists that were offended by my opinion. 

Surprising to many, the Dali Lama is not universally loved in his homeland.  Some folks take issue with his passive approach that they see as ineffective.  At the current pace, it is a moot point as the Chinese Gov has made great strides in successfully eradicating the Tibetan culture.
