That is kind of what I meant.

Ironically ,,  James McMurtry  song on the radio right now.   "We Can't Make It Here Anymore" ,      "Empty pallets,  rusted tracks...  guess we can't make it here anymore."

I like "we cant make it here anymore"

To me the real question is this, how do I feel?  I can be unemployed yet hopeful that I will get a job.  Not assuming you are sitting on your ass waiting for a job to fall from the sky hopeful, but in the "keep trying" sense.  Hope and happiness are similar.  Lose one, and the other goes with it.

any WSB  fisherman knows what I speak of.  Are you happy floating around with 4 lines in the water for the CHANCE of catching one?  That is hope.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.  But HOPE is what gets you on the water in the dark.

hey, no bashing on McMurtry or Springsteen-they got me through lots of rough times. :smt002
I've been fortunate enough to see them both play live. McMurty @ Henflings was one helluvashow. Got to meet him, chillin in his van between sets. Told him we'd seen him play with the Indigo Girls in like 1994, and he suddenly lit up & was friendly as could be for a guy trying to have a smoke outside a biker bar.

E2G you nailed it, however for WSB I take hope to the level of envisioning the fish below, the bite, the fight & landing, all of it. There's lots of time to think during WSB fishing  :smt044.

Randomness rules the universe. All one can do is try to persevere...and hope for luck.

I've heard harrowing tales of people being stranded and starving with nothing but hope. Some say that the only reason they didn't lay down and die was because they held on to that little bit of hope and that was enough to keep them alive long enough to be rescued. Of course I am sure there are plenty of people in that situation that held on to that last little bit of hope and died a slow miserable death anyway. :smt001 :smt001 :smt001

You seem so happy to me most of the time. Here you go! What do you call that little spark that makes you go on? When you wake in the middle of the night worried about whatever and morning comes. Why do you get up? Then decide to carry on. Shakleton

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

I don't think hope is a very positive word.

I sure HOPE something good will happen. Don't hope, work on making it happen. Be positive that something good will happen. Those who hope, in my opinion, are those who have a hard time doing things for themselves.
I am not sure of whats your understanding of HOPE Rob, no disrespect but, Hope is for real people....My hometown was beaten down by typhoon that causes extreme flooding..you have no idea how the word HOPE can be so much positive..I think the person doesnt have faith in HOPE never had reality check (no pun intended) cause when someone is in despair all they can do is hope....I myself is holding to it..HOPING things will turn around..dont get me wrong I am doing the best I can...have you ever had someone pointed gun at you? Well I HOPE not..cause when that happen to me a few months back all I can do is grasp on HOPE they are not going to shoot me...it kinda harsh to say "Those who hope, in my opinion, are those who have a hard time doing things for themselves" when you cant control everything....I apologized if I offended anyone. Theres always hope..as a matter fact we hope everyday...
