My Never ending project:
This started off with getting parts here and there back when I lived in El Paso Texas in 2002, It isn't finished yet, and I work on it when I have the time.  It is a Harly Softail inspired motorcycle, bike is built from all parts scavanged here there and everywhere from swap meets, craigslist, and e-bay, Jireh Cycles, aadn a few other pLaces.  The paint job was done by a guy in Redwood City on a scheme that I wanted.  It is based on a 1933 Harley VL motorcycle (1933 was HD's worst year, but it was also the first year of the Art Deco fuel tanks).  The paint is 1936 Forest Green, and 1933 Silver, both paints are from asmall company that makes reproductions paints for Harley restoration projects.

we have one of the best vintage motorcycle shows and gatherings in the world here in Carmel valley each year

http://signatureevents.peninsula.com/en/Motorcycle/Motorcycle.html

...the show... the food ....the bikes...oh the bikes....the music ...the chicks everyhwere....oh the chicks.... are well worth a ride down...they even have 'quail ride ticket' that gets you a killer Saturday ride with famous folks from the long history of u.s.a bikes and racing as well as all kinds of bikes ...lunch at the corkscrew...awards dinner at the lodge..t-shirts and gift bag...and the regular ticket too for the Sunday show...super cool event..oh and the ride ends at Seca where everyone gets to do a few laps in whatever they are riding in...I did the ride one year and we had a chp in front..and chp in the rear...and we were flat out flying...pretty cool chasing a cop bike at about 100 + mph...shhh dont tell on us...

If you ever get a chance to go...ride with a buddy and make a weekend out of it...the best food and bikes all for one ticket...all on one field..unreal

And the paint job:

The idea is to go for a single seat bike retro rider.  The seat is off a 2001 Police Road King, Front End if off a Fat Boy.  Engine is mostly stock with an ultima Case, Tranny is stock gears with an ultima case.  Frame is Kraft Tech stock replacement.  The exhaust is a 2 into 1 set up  a retro fishtail from the 1930's.   Next set of pics will be the outdoor assembly wich is coming along, I just need to get past the local cats pissing on my creation, and getting past the electrics. To bring her to a finish.

The show is a mile or so from my house and in the days before and right after I get to see some of the coolest bikes mad in groups or alone just arriving...the campground at the end of my road is a popular spot...kind of like your guys big kayak rallies...as my bike is in the driveway and we get ready to ride in...we get a mini show/parade from the campground heading in...just super cool stuff...you would never see on the road normally

Nothing you can't do with your honda, just a lot of elbow grease, time and energy.

Yep.  It's going to be a "spare time" project.  Not that I have a lot of spare time these days but I like to have something to do to "break up" a larger project.

Ordering pistons & rings today so hope to get started on some re-assembly in the near future.

Very nice job.  Who did the chrome?

I did.  Actually, I cleaned the chrome.  Soaked it in apple cider vinegar for 4 or 5 days, then 000 steel wool, then shot it with rattle can Gloss Clear engine enamel paint, baked in oven to cure and viola!

I have a few parts that are pitted so I want to do a complete re-chrome of a few parts.  I'm not much of a "chrome" kind of guy so I'm looking at having all the chrome parts done in black chrome.

Beautiful bikes, keep the pictures coming!

I haven't posted a pic of my bike yet - its looking more like your "before" pictures rather than the "after" of your projects..  I need to do some scrubbing.  :smt012

Let's do a group ride when the days are longer - some time in spring if its not pouring rain every day.
