My bike is too big for me. :smt009..Plus im scared to drive it with all the dummies on the road. :smt009

I had the exact bike before, same color, windshield and back rack. If you want to sell it and Yak hopper doesn't buy it i would like to be second in line, i will pay double what you paid for it.Maybe even more

Decided to take the day and unwrap a different kind of present.  Pulled the tarps off my dads old Honda CB77 305's and pull one into my garage to start the restoration project.  It's a early/mid-1960's.  Luckily it wasn't frozen up.  After a day spent, its not much more than a frame & motor now.  Felt good to start a new project that means a lot to me.

Back story:  dad bought the bike new.  He would commute from Salinas to Big Sir when he worked for the forestry department in the 60's.  He wound up in an accident on it that nearly killed him.  The bike wasn't damaged much at all.  He somehow wound up with two of these and they have been tarped over in storage since the late 60's.

Fast forward to today.  We lost him to cancer a little over three years ago.  Thinking a lot about him today & thought .... what better time than now to start this project.  This would put a smile on his face knowing it will be back on the road again.  Looking forward to ridding with the ncka crew!

Here's a picture of it from earlier today.

Bill

...... and here it is later in the day.

Bill

By the end of the day it was just a frame, motor and front end.  Hope to start painting the frame in the next week or so.

Wow good luck with your project bike.  There may be some vintage motorcycle clubs around that could help.

Keep us posted with your progress.

I just fried the flasher relay on my bike by mistake.   :smt012

As of this morning.  Trying to keep track of all the wiring while removing it from the frame.  Lots of pictures along the way.

I love the process of breaking a bike down and putting it back together. Did it to a lesser extent with my ktm not long after I bought to address the great Austrian grease shortage. Great way to get to know a bike and appreciate the engineering. Good luck with the honda. Have to get ya a wax cotton jacket to complete the  retro look when its all finished.

I dont know if I trust this guy or not.......That garage looks WAAAY too clean!

Seriously, good luck with the rebuild.  what kind of paint are you going to use?  And, spraying yourself?  You gonna sandblast the frame 1st?

I would love one of those old scramblers were they 305 or 350?

Content with my 1972 Trail 90 for now.  Doesn't go fast enough to GUARANTEE I'll be killed.  I use it a lot, and it looks like a tramp, but runs like a champ.

Bushy,

Garage is still clean from the Holiday Party you should have come to.

Its a 305.  Hope to drop it in the sandblaster this weekend.  Paint or powder coat ... not sure yet.  If I go paint, I will shoot it myself after a few coats of primer.

Hey Bill,

Despite the fact that this is a kayaking forum, I encourage you to keep us following your project. I like motos, and restorations are cool!
Always willing to join others in the Monterey/Santa Cruz/Half Moon Bay area for a bit of fishing...feel free to contact me.

Will do.  Been wanting to do this project for a few years.  Got a good start on it.  Need to find a break down manual for a few critical steps.  Hope to pull the heads next week.  I've done car & boat restorations.  This will be my first official moto resto.  Worked on bikes since I was a kid so nothing too new to this.  Just apply what I've learned from other resto's and go with it.
