Bodega Bay HOW Crab Fest 11/19 CANCELED!!!!

I use the danielsons for soaking and the double ring ones for working actively.

How much are the fees?

$6 day use or for extra car parking at camp sites...

dogs are $2 and need rabies vacination paperwork...

( see what happens when ya ask the officials...? )

we have been taking our dog there for years without that...

we are approved, but get this...  Now... 

I have to get another piece of paperwork from our insurance co. Through HOW national before they will let me pay for the permit...

 I'm not even sure HOW national or the Insurance co knows what I'm talking about...

  I sure don't

what kinda of extra cold water clothing gear does anyone have around that we could use...???

we basically have to prepare to get probably 12 to 20 vets on the water, 100 to 200 yard paddle to the traps,

and back... we need wet suits, dry suits or any other ideas...

I think that this is our biggest concern...

also safety OTW...

2 on 1 vet situation

 with a extra rescue team (RIC) Rapid Intervention Crew will be assigned just for rescue,

we also have the Coast Guard a stones throw away and I will be getting in touch with them,

  but I'd feel better if we have this in place.... 

I'll bring a XL 3mm Farmer John, rash guard, neoprene socks, booties, pfd and splash jacket.

I have a spare yak ( Brand new T13) and would be interested in being  apart of the RIC.

I don't think I can make this one Don. I have an xl FJ and paddle jacket you can use if you need it. Yaks and gear too, but again we may have pick up problems. If I go the FJ will still be available.

 Clavey River sports in Petaluma has stepped up again,   

they are going to loan us 6 to 8 wetsuits and and about a dozen splash jackets they use for their classes....

 Class Act operation that has always been good to ncka,

and now are on board with Heroes on the Water...

 My vision for the RIC team is for 2 yakers to be patrolling the area and ready to assist...

 I expect vets to go over...,  not being used to kayaks, pulling up traps, and then creepy crawlers scambling everywhere.... 

it's going to happen...

 But with a 2 on 1 ration, and another RIC team of 2, that gives 4 people to get the vet back on the kayak and back in,

I want to make sure that other volunteers do not have to abandon their vet to assist...

I think that works... I'm making sure the VA brings extra clothes, towels and blankets...

    Can we make a Fire on the beach there?

 If the RIC team is working the way it needs to be,   RIC is not fishing... 

the sole purpose of the safety team is to focus just on the the vets on the water, I might be a bit heavy handed on this, but this part is our fail safe,

 not to say ya can't be in the action, it's just RIC needs to be focused....

I'm still working on getting a private boater out there for extra measure, but I'm not hopeful about that...

The bbqs are small and not condusive to campfires. It would be ideal if we could get permission to move a fire ring from the campground to the day use area where we will be operating.
