Took A new member diving for his first freedive to otter cove to adjust his weights and test his new gear.. Cnew is A new member who I coaked in A few weeks ago, after buying his first kayak he jumped on gettin himself some dive gear... Chris and I worked together ten years ago.....After getting to the cove we set up and jumped in....Damn I forgot my snorkel...  :smt009... Thought I would play it out anyway.. This was not gonna happen.. Too exhausting trying to snorkel without A snorkel! :smt012.. I decided to run up to the dive shop and buy A new one. Chris and Kris waited for me on shore, after getting back in the water we went to a deeper area 15-20 is deep for me! :smt003... Chris adjusted well. After A few dives the punk comes up with A nice grassie.. :smt001....His first fish!!!
I spooked A few cabs and saw some slug opal eyes but didn't shoot... My new suit is ridiculously awesome, never getting cold for A second.. Had A good time in the water today with A new diver! Welcome to the board Chris! Water was like glass but the vis was hazey.

Hey guys thanks for all the kind words. I had a great time, not that I had any doubt I would love it. Andy thanks for all the help so far in getting me started. It only took me 10 years to take you up on the offer!! Once I got most of my stuff I couldn't wait to get in the water, as you can see I can use a stringer since I ended up bringing the fish back to shore.

I guess I can take a minute to introduce myself, I live and work in Santa Cruz as a warehouse manager for a local furniture company. I'm a volunteer firefighter and EMT in Santa Cruz pursuing a spot as a full time firefighter. Married 3 years, no kids. Scuba certified and love to be in and around the water. I have been fishing off and on most of my life but saltwater is an entirely new beast. I moved to Arizona for a year a little while back and realized how much I had taken for granted everything the Central Coast had to offer. Needless to say we moved back and I made a promise to myself to make sure I take advantage of everything California has to offer, for me nowhere else can even comes close.

I have met a handful of folks from NCKA over the past month or so. Went down to Stillwater and met Jim and some if his family, super nice guy, as you already know. Also camped down in Monterey with Andy for the MBK Tournament and met a lot of other great people. Everyone so far is super friendly and willing to help out whenever they can. I look forward to meeting others and hanging out whether it be fishing or diving.
Chris
