Team_chancho ride down with me. Might be tight in the back seat of my frontier but I am sure we can manage.

-Brian G

Is there room for Kat and I and two kayaks?

I have a king cab frontier so as long as you and Kat aren't both 6' I think we can fit in with moderate comfort. My schedule is leave Folsom between 4:30 - 5 PM. Head down to Lodi. Hookup trailer and load gear tubs.  Then jam down to Kelsey at 60 mph.

Thanks Lost Mojo,  and Team_Chancho,  hope you guys work this out... keep me posted and I'll see what I can do to help...

 Just heard from the VA,,,  oh boy, I knew we were a big hit and word has gotten out...

 looks like were looking at close to 50 vets or more when ya include the WTU guys...

here is the e-mail from the VA...

Quote
Don, I will try to give you a call soon. As of today, we have about 6
different programs invited with a total of about 40 veterans. I am
waiting to hear back from San Jose clinic, which will raise our numbers
closer to 46 or so. I remain mindful of your 50 count max.

Groups Attending: P-Trip PAD, Outpatient PCT & PNS LMD, San Jose PCT,
Menlo Park PCT, PNS inpatient
*   PCT Livermore (Stephanie):  5
*   PNS Livermore (Miriam): 6 to 8 spots
*   San Jose Clinic (Drea): 6 to 8 spots (will get back to me)
*   Menlo Park (Jeff): 20x
*   PAD P-TRIP (Diep, Huy): 2x
*   HUD-VASH (Kate Butler): 10 veterans

 we could use more kayaks and volunteers on the water...

we could also use more fishing poles, still waiting on Scott, KBRM to gives us a heads up on what there biting on...

Again...  MARK YOUR GEAR!!!

at the end of the day, it's a huge pile and just makes things much easier...

 There going to arrive between 9:30 and 10:00,,,

I have my brother inlaw's wedding in Bakersfield on that day so can't make it.... :smt009

Zisco, if there is a need for more gear you can take up whatever I have that you have room for...

I have two yaks with seats and paddles, one pfd and one decent spinning rod (Shimano Clarus with a shimano spinning reel)...worked fine at Kelsey last time...I also have some leftover tackle from last time we were up there that you would be welcome to take up...

Don, if any of that is needed please PM me, and Zisco and I can see what we can work out...

THANK YOU again to everybody involved with this.

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

The Fishing...

 Going to be tough, it's going to be hot out there all week, the good news is, it starts to turn around on Thursday and Saturday being even cooler, could perk them up a bit...

Scott, a Kelsey Bass ranch Member and will be helping us Saturday was out this weekend and here is his report...

Quote
Don;
It was real tough on Sunday....But here goes.

Baby brush hogs or creature baits( Gary Yamamoto) in most natural colors for this time of year. Add a 3/16 screw in weight to peg the bait ( easy to cast for beginners ) 2/0  to 3/0 worm hooks, I like red hooks....  No need to get barbless we just use needle nose to smash the bard down. Also they can be used for worms too..... A few colors I use are below.

Green Pumpkin
Water/purple glitter
Watermelon
Baby bass.
Black and Blue flake

For worm's I like to use Robo worms or Zoom  worms in the same colors as above. If you get screw in weights they work for both. The srcrew in weights work well with all the weeds this time of year, and there are alot of weeds..Waltons pond might carry this certain bait that I like, it is a Tru-Tugston worm that has the weight in it. Very easy to rig for beginners and cast like a rock.....I would also get some Senko's as this is the best bait for any none bass angler and very easy to throw from a kayak or from shore....In speaking with my partner yesterday, both of us will carry baits on us as we both have so many that we do not use all of them. I have a pile that I started on yesterday, and will bring a bag full...He was going to walk the shore and help out any shore angler or float in his ponton boat to help out any kayakers.....

Shade color
Baby Bass
Black and Blue flake
Greenpumpkin with black flake
Watermelon/Red flake

I'm going to talk to Jon about Senkos for the Vets, but I know Jon does not like these as the Bass just Inhale them...

I like the idea of just focusing our presentation to worming, baby brush hogs as the water is very weedy...

Making these as weedless as possible will be important...

These weights Scott is talking about are very expensive...  I just picked up some weight and worm line stoppers. 10 of them for $2... these should be able to keep a bullet weight right on top of the bait...
I'm going to try and pick up some extra weights, the fancy ones if I can, worms, baby brush hogs, and anyone who has a few to donate to the cause..  great..

 This is what we will rig up on all the poles PTA of the Vets...

I'll get a list of who and what we have soon....

 Thanks All

We have about 25 Kayaks and somewhere around 30 poles for the Vets,

 I think we can make that work, a few more poles would be nice, but I think were looking good.

 We also need to think about our span of control of how many volunteers were going to have on the water,,, so

 if this is what we have for volunteers, we do not want any more yaks on the water than this...
some will shore fish, some will not want to fish, some will go out in shifts and we do have a power boat...

were looking good....  :smt004

 We need Wood for a fire Friday and for the Grill Saturday...

  Thanks All!!!
