I had biggest greenling, but I've not heard anything about a prize...  Anyone have any info on that?

Thanks,

Eric

Got my question answered by PM.  I guess there weren't prizes for biggest of species.  I suppose I was mistaken when I thought the contest was advertised as having prizes for biggest of species.  My bad...

I think that was only for the first 2 or 3 AOTYs, Eric.

Then why hasn't it been removed from the rules page?  :smt002

Is it?  Bill did away with the biggest of each species when AOTY went to 20 species.

AOTY got me to try some new things like catching perch in Humboldt Bay and at the Cove from my yak, bass fishing, and some trout fishing I may not have otherwise done, but now I'm happy to move back toward my old favorites - salmon in the ocean, rockfish/lingcod, and I am refining my plan for a Pac But.

Oh?  I hadn't realized that since it still says:

Quote
8. The anglers fish for each individual species will be entered into a per species pool.

If that's not what this means, I guess I dont understand this line's function then.

"Pool" is pretty vague, so no sweat, Allen - I gave away most of the biggest of species bling I ever won anyway.

I think we're swimming in the pool now, Al!   :smt005

I thought we just ran out of sweaters? One of the only reasons I pay for AOTY each year is because I want to compete for biggest ling or RF or cab. But then again, I see a lot of people wearing those sweaters who haven't caught the biggest of any species. So perhaps a different/new award w/b appropriate anyways..?

In 09 they gave away hoodies to the largest of the specie. I had the biggest cab and WSB in 2010

Maybe I'll award prizes for biggest of species next year at GS - that may appease those who thought they had something to shoot for in AOTY.   :smt001

Biggest ling at GS5:  37.5"
Biggest cab at GS5:  24"
Biggest rocky at GS5:  21.5"
Biggest greenie at GS5:  16"?
Biggest perch at GS5:  13.5"?
Biggest HALIBUT at GS5:  47.75"!!!!

I like stats.   :smt003

I see what you mean.  I think that is a residual from when we did have per species prizes.

The 2010 rules page explicitly stated that prizes would be award for 1-10th place.  Actually it said 1-3 in one place and 1-10 in another, and we gave prizes for 1-10.

The 2011 rules page says "Prizes for 2011 to be determined!".  We will have prizes for 1-10, with the top prize being a Hobie Revo.  The other 9 prizes are still TBD.
