Got a nasty throat and sinus infection up at Shelter Cove and am on a 10 day course of anti-biotics, and ordered to rest and hydrate as much as possible.
 :smt009
No beer, no diving, no running.  :smt010

Anyway, gotta make up the 20 mile run I missed with my Team this weekend and will be doing it on Saturday May 28th starting at 7am.

Gonna run from the back of Natural Bridges along WestCliff, in and around the Harbor up onto East Cliff, over to 41st and up to the tracks by Nova and back.

Will be working on my pacing and will be keeping an 11-11.5 minute mile pace on the way out and 10.5-11 minute mile pace on the way back.

If anybody wants to join, or come out and say hi, you are more than welcome!
 :smt006
Sincerely,

Jim

As a FOG (fat old guy) I ride my bike for fitness.  Every time I pass 26.2 miles, I cannot believe that people actually run that far.  Hell some of the African guys are not going much slower than me on a bike.

Hats off to you  :smt001

who would I be running from???? :smt012

I consider it more running TO instead of FROM...I'm running to get to that cold beverage and the feeling of satisfaction when I finally stop!!

 :smt004

Just got this from my Coach and thought you all might enjoy it:

Quote
Team In Training is first and foremost a fundraising program. It's not a cycling club, triathlon club, walking club, or running club. I have coached in hopes of eliminating blood-related cancers and also to help patients' families.

You could've joined another organization, a running club, or even trained on your own.

But you chose Team In Training.

For that, I am extremely thankful, honored, and proud of you. You are an inspiration. You are a difference maker. And along the way you turned yourself into a pretty darn good athlete.

On race day, you will have an advantage over the other runners. In your time of need, you'll be able to draw courage and strength from our team Honorees, your personal Honorees, and from the fact that you have the ability and opportunity to experience life in a marathon or half marathon.

Your endurance event is all about the experience--the start line energy, the IT band pain, the cramping muscles, the fluidity of your stride, the companionship of friends, the sight of the finish line.

There are people--old, sick, or scared--who would give anything to be experiencing life like that, in the heat, in the rain (in the hail!) or in an energized crowd.

We are truly lucky.

Soak in every moment of your event.

Look around you.

Appreciate that you are living life instead of watching it go by.

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

Jim I can only imagine the amount of endorphins running thru your veins when you finish that 20th mile!! I can barely jog/powerwalk alternate 2 miles on a treadmill in front of a TV and I feel like I'm on top of the world after that first 20 minutes!!!

That letter from your coach was really cool.  :smt001
