This video is already a few weeks old but the halibut are definitely in.  I lost a huge one at the boat the day before this video was shot.  I actually got it in the boat before it kicked my butt and got away.  Lesson learned, there is no shame in bringing a ridiculously large net just in case.  Any way some of my other friends with me have also taken some flatys down this year, and lost some too.  I'm not the only one!  So hopefully this is a prelude to a killer halibut year!!!

Thanks for the video,

Saw one of those Santa Cruz Sit In yaks yesterday at a local Central Coast shop looked pretty cool.

Nice catch and landing the Hali.  That yak looks super stable.  Thanks for the report and video clip FP.

Nice one - that yak is neato and definitely looks ultrastable - how's it paddle?

Definitely no shame in having a big ass net along any time you fish in the ocean.  If you see someone who carries one they've probably either lost a huge fish due to not having one, and/or they know from experience that it will be vital to landing a big salmon, ling or halibut.

Great post and video! I went to web page for Santa Cruz Kayaks; they are bad-a$$!!!!. I have a hobie, revo, and think I may have to save up to get one of those. How are they for "pimping?"

Nice butt on the SC Yak. Looks like a super stable platform. Plus 1 on the bignet. Is that a spinning reel or upside down rod?

I landed a big halibut in my big net and somehow the fish still managed to scape
out and down she goes. I think a big net is a must when going after the halis.
Thanks for the report and video FP.

Wow what was that bright thing in the sky. Oh it must have been the sun. It's been so long since I've seen one. Good job showing us that haven't done it that it can be done.
