I had a customer ask me yesterday how you guys do weigh in's when you do a bass tournament. I'm assuming you don't use live wells and bring the fish back to the dock like you would in a bass boat, however I also didn't think measuring the length of a bass would be that effective ether. So please school a newbie, how do you do it ? :dontknow:

Yea they go by the length of the fish and not the weight of the fish. So you can catch a 24 inch bass that could be 5lbs and beat the person that has a 21 in 8lb bass :smt044

Hmmmm I guess this would be the easiest way but does seem to be a bummer. Not a big deal, I'm just excited to meet some of you guys and go fishing with a bunch of other kayaks. I will let the guy know that asked. He fishes bass tournaments out of his boat all the time, and is a pretty competitive guy, so we will see how that goes. It does seem that the length is the most accurate way to do it if its all catch photo and release.

We don't do many bass tourney's either  :smt002  More Fish-N-Chill's than tourneys for FW.

:smt001 I think the word tournament could be used alternately with the word Excuse...  :smt044 Gets us out there and gives some prizes at the end, but I had more fun BS'in and meeting  :smt006 everyone than fishing (although I did get skunked at CL!!! :smt010 ) Not gonna happen at ARW!!!!  :smt003
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Immediate C&R w/a photo on the Hog Trough is the simplest, most-effective way to do it. Otherwise, you end up with overly-complex rules & requirements that look like this: http://www.bass-n-tubes.com/tourney%20rules.html
But then again, we're all friends here @ NCKA so your word is bond. If you say it was 21.25" then we believe you. Maybe that's predicated on the fact we aren't gunning for 20 thousand dollar prizes. Eitehr way, I think we got a good thing going with respect to the fishery and the camaraderie!

Cool guys. I can't wait to get out and fish with some of you guys. I will host a hookup here on the delta within the next few months.

Why wait a couple of months? The biguns are here now. Last week won bass tournament winner had about 56lbs for two days. Don't wait. Go now.

Sounds great - Can't wait :smt006
But please check the Calender carefully as there are already a few events scheduled in the next couple months and you wouldn't want to kill the vibe by scheduling over another event.

Thanks Eric, I follow the events closely, and as soon as I can break away you will see me at one. BTW I have the Yakhopper series posted on my website with a link to NCKA for more info. www.headwaterskayak.com under the fishing tab, I hope to do my part to share the madness.  :smt064

I will be sure to post it on a off weekend, or maybe even a little get together on a Monday for us non 9-5ers.
