Got back from picking up my new (used) Hobie Revo; was originally going to get an Outback later in the future, but could pass up such a good deal. I was fumbling around on Craigslist this morning and did a search on Hobies for fun. Saw a post for 2 Hobie Revos (1 yellow / 1 Red) and thought is was a typo; I called the guy up and asked him if he still had them and he said he already sold the yellow one (to a guy in So Cal). I asked him how much (just to verify if the posting price was correct) he wanted for the red one and he said $529. I asked him the general question: condition of unit, why he was sellling it and what came with it... it was in good condition, kept in storage; was used at a vacation home for one season, then they sold the home and it's been in storage for 2years.

Knowing that this could easily be out-purchased from right under my feet; I jumped in the car, drove up to Healdsburg and put the cash in his hand. I even made an attempt to out-buy the Yellow Revo, but the gentlemen had already promised that to the other guy; it was worth a try.

Now let the cutting, drilling, screwing and mod'ing begin; one month to get it ready for GS5!!!!

GO BACK AND BUY THE YELLOW ONE TOO!!!! Man thats a deal of a lifetime!!!  For that price, I would have just assumed you would have been shot and left for dead when you went to pick it up!  :smt044

Now... I'm afraid!  What in the world is Yakzilla-2 gonna be like?!?!?!?!  :smt005

Hell, I'm gonna bet you sell YZ1 after you get used to that revo  :smt002

I got first dibbs on it if the other guy does not send him a check by Wednesday...

I was REAL hesitant to meet up with this guy, thought for sure it was a setup, stolen or something fishy; so I asked to meet as a Wells Fargo.  I used the excuse that I needed to get some cash out; but the real reason was it was cameras all over the area, just in case.  When I rolled up in a NICE Mercedes and was an older gentle men, I know everything was cool...

I doing a bunch of surfing on the net to see what kind of mods were done to the Revo; but there's not much here on NCKA on Revos. Can't put as much on it as Yakzilla; weight capacity is 50lbs less...

But I do plan on keeping T13; from what I understand, there are certain situations when a T13 is more practical than a Revo...

you don't need to do much

1. Sail mast mount for FF (order the 1 inch jam ball from Hook1)
2. Add some RAM mounts (if you want more then two rods) (Hook 1, try and get the metal bases) (see O2B's set up.
3. Sailing rudder (Local shop or Austin Kayak)
4. Turbo Fins on the drive (Local shop or Austin Kayak)
5. QRAS (anchor set up) (Seach for Tote's How To)
6. Apologize to the T13 that you will only paddle her 1 or 2 times per year.

Striper Slayer and I saw that ad, but you beat us to the last one. Lucky dog. Maybe one day I'll come across that kind of deal. Congratulations.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll just drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

Thanks Martin! Can't wait to join the "Loose Screws" now....

1. & 2. ) Looking into placing the order for accessories (and yes, with Hook1 of course)
3. & 4.) Picking one up tomorrow; can't wait to upgrade.
5.) Saw that; and will definite go that route versus the trolley system.
6.) No sweet; I will end up using that when I go out with the wifey...

Striper Slayer and I saw that ad, but you beat us to the last one. Lucky dog. Maybe one day I'll come across that kind of deal. Congratulations.

I was gonna wait until the weekend to pick it up; but didn't want to take the chance on loosing it. Hopefully the other will fake out and I will get the other one too.

Thanks!! but why does everyone claim it to be the "Dark Side"; maybe this kayak will be called "Darth Revo".....

BTW: I still have yet to notify my wifey about this new toy, she's gonna get a big surprise when she sees it tomorrow morning; hopefully I have enough WAF to offset this purchase.......

I think you have joined.  If you get the 2nd Revo and can't use it, I'll take it off your hands for a friend of mine.

Agree. My Adventure is my main yak, but do use the T13 for certain situations, like yesterday when i went diving. Have fun rigging your yak
Peace, y'all

If the second Revo becomes available (and it's like a 0.000000001% chance), I was planning on getting it for my brother-in-law; I need to find him a CLEAN hobby to keep him busy and out of trouble.

At first I was hesitant about getting the red one, it looked real faded in the picture; but when I saw it in person, I knew that color was for me!

Actually I wanted both a paddle & a pedal kayak more for the exercising benefits (fishing was a hidden side-effect); i plan on routing between the two on days when I'm out for fun.

AND, Just got done shopping for anything that had a "Hobie" brand on it (not the sail, yet); got tons of stuff to do this weekend. I think I may a "Mod Day" and see if anyone else wants to tear into their kayak.

I should be ready by GS5!!!! hopefully....
