I'm looking for a battery powered FF, and I mean AA or AAA batteries. Do they make one? I don't want to spend over $150. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Anthony

Most, if not all, can be run on AA batteries.  That is how many of us do it.  I have a Humminbird and an Eagle that both use 10 AA batteries.

Do a quick search on the forums for FF.  I was at Coyote Bait & Tackle in south San Jose last week and they had this guy on sale.  I think one of our own picked one of them up but the other might still be there.  I asked a salesperson if somebody out of the area wanted it how willing they'd be to ship it and he said I'd need to ask the owner.  It may be worth a shot.

Good luck in whatever you choose.

Sweet!!! Thanks for the response. I realized after I posted that I should have looked deeper into the archives.

Good luck and let us know what you end up with.

It's a little hard to see with the glare but the FF in the picture is only $69.99.

And, a couple companies make "portable FF's that hold the AA batteries as part of the unit.

I still have a couple humminbird portables that continue to operate well after 8 years.

In the archives and in the post above, notice guys use 10 AA batteris, instead of 8.

(8 X 1.5 V= 12V)  Using 10 is a better bet, it won't hurt the FF and the power lasts longer.

I've never used aa for a power source, but I've wanted to make a set up or a back up to my charging battery. I use a 5 amp gell cell, and it lasts all day and sometimes about a half day next day. How long does a set of 10 aa batteries last compared to a 5 amp? Anyone? There are times when I'm on a multi day trip and it would be nice to use aa after I've worn down my rechargebles.

I use 8 aa and it lasted almost all day. I am using some older rechargeables that could definitely need upgrading  and I  am getting ready to look on Ebay for a lot more since it seems that I keep running out of. I need to find where I can get a 10 holder since that does sound better then 8. I got my 8 holder at Radio shack and made sure to by a couple since my last one Salt rotted out. Cheap enough 1.65, I didn't ask them about a 10 holder so will stop by and see. I also am running that Eagle 300

I usually get 3-5 full days using 8 AA to run my Humminbird PirhanaMax.  Simple 8 cell set-up in a small Pelican case.

All depends on you FF, on how long your battery(s) will last. :smt002
