If you could only attend one event a year - where would you want it to be and when would be the best time to have it?
Guidelines for tournament:
1. Must have facilities for up to poss. 200 anglers
2. Must be avail for camping Fri. - Mon.
3. Must be close to water for launching purposses
4. Must be a desirable location to encourage other kayak groups to attend
Please post your response and why you feel this would be the best place and time to have a tournament.

Just getting info (for now :smt003 )

I'm sure others will post up with saltwater, but here are my freshwater recommendations.

Clear Lake
Lake Mendocino
Lake Tahoe

Not sure about facilities with Tahoe, but hopefully others can chime in about its possibilities.

I could add a new one. I manage a 7000 acre property 10 miles north of Eagle Lake. Plenty of space for camping on the property, lots of camping space along the eastern shore of the lake and a couple campgrounds. Fishing on the lake opens Memorial Day but the fishing does not get good until August.
Besides fishing, those inclined could hunt some coyotes and hike the property or target practicing.

Lake Tahoe, it has everything a family could want! What better place to fish all weekend and still get WAF points  :smt044. With the right preparations a group site or many individual sites could easily be reserved in advance.

Lake Tahoe on the southside has plenty of camping around Camp Richardson and has 3 beaches within 2-3 miles of it.  The beaches are Camp Richardson, Pope Beach, and Baldwin Beach.

Only one for the entire year?!

Shelter Cove for me too - Late June or early August for the best chance of good weather, good water, salmon bite, ab season.

Tahoe's right up there - Late July, because that's when I'm up there with the family for our annual pilgrimage.   :smt003

I agree that Tahoe would be a great spot. There are already other great events at the other sites that people have mentioned.
