Woke up at 6am and headed to the gas station, after the fill up and looking at the price (@.@) I take off to Carmel.  As I am driving up the mountain of hwy 17, I see at the top 60+ cars parked and a bunch of folks outside, so I stop playing my mixx cd and turn on the news.  I hear that there is a Tsunami warning, but it indicates that it doesn't get to the bay area till 8:30am.  I pull over and log onto the forums to check if my friends have bailed or not, but I don't see any posts.  I pickup my iphone and run the NOAA app and click Monterey.  All I hear is warnings %^&*().  I say to myself, "those guys better come, even if its for the food".

I get to Carmel at 7am and walk out to the pier, and shortly right after, security comes out and kicks me off.  Skipping the wait time, the crew all gets there around 9:30ish, 10am.  The tide was going in/out every 18mins.  It was trippy to see high tide/low tide change so fast, in a few minutes.  We all loaded the kayaks and took off, making sure we went around the big rollers out by the rocks.  Near the rocks we see a lot of harbor seals, one in particular kept slapping the water with its fins.

We get to our spot and drop in and have some surgy 5-15ft vis, which isn't that bad.  The most exciting part of the day for me was timing the way back in through the rollers, we got caught in a set, varying 5ft which pushed us mostly to shore.  I was more concerned of tipping over and my gear becoming unhooked.  LOL

After we land on ground and broke down the setup, we were greeted by FishMaster and his fryer.  BigJim's cabazon had a few treats, little abalones.  LOL  I almost lost all my wife points, after checking my phone I see that my wife and all my relatives called me over 16x's, after I posted on facebook that I was headed for the ocean.

Thanks for reading.

Gutsy move guys. Glad that y'all were safe and had fun. After seeing the video and the bounty being fried, my tummy guts went all pulling one another,  so I gotta have my breakfast now. I mean NOW.

Danny,
Love it.  I did not spear any fish yet but that will come soon once I get more comfortable and relaxed down there.  That was Jim's fish I was holding up.  I did not even feel the cold with a 7mm suit on.   Chaeki was great in getting me comfortable out there.

Rey,
As I've said, tell me how much will it take to get me suited up. I was told to get the best suited mask and fins coz I'll use them the entire time. Glad you're getting broken in. Next time, you'll be my guide/wingman.

Just got home spent today with Andy pulling eels out of the rocks. Was a great hookup with the Birthday boy great food and company. I'm sore after spending over 2hrs. in the water only my hands and feet got cold. The surge was fun you had to hold on to the kelp during worst of it . Made shooting impossible.

I am looking forward to the next trip and the next and the next....  Plus, I enjoy having more people learn how to freedive, I got to admit that its very addicting, once your underwater and it looks like your swimming in a aquarium.  Now only if I can find fish the same size as the one in the aquarium.  LOL

Sorry if I left some names out of the video, I couldn't recognize who was who.  Most of you had camo on, but the one thing that stuck out, that I noticed was the snorkel.  I think I am going to write my name on my snorkel or tape it with bright colors.

I am not anything close to a good diver, but I know that I am comfortable nowdays in the ocean.  So if your learning and want to hang in the water, shoot me a message.  Its really hard to find someone to just show you the ropes, as most of us want to get out there and shoot the fish.
