It seems there will be a bass tournament happening the same day but if we
launch at Oak Shore, we'll be fine. I'm hoping to catch some SMB and Spotted Bass. Perhaps some crappie too but you just never know. Company welcome.

There had never been any mussel inspection before. I hope that has not changed.
I would still show up with your boat dry inside and out though just in case.
Google Capel Cove which is the free launch but that is not where we are going to
launch because of the bass tournament. If they are not around, I would rather
stay in that area for I have done well there from the past. I have not gone past
the cove yet because of the constant action. Anyhow, if those bass guys are
around, the Oak shore is just past that about a few more miles maybe 2 miles max. Hope to finally fish with you bro.

There's no inspection. When you pull into Oak Shores go all the way down to the southern most parking lot. There's a cement ramp to the water before you get to the south lot but I think the walk to the water may be a little shorter from the south lot. You do need a cart either way. Parking is free. jim

I might try and join ya Jed. Where is the minnow auction up there? Is the bait shop nearby?  My memories of berryessa include drinking, jumping off bridges, and looking at girls take there tops off  :smt007 not that much fishing i can remember  :smt044  :smt044  :smt044

The bait shop near by is called Sweeney's in Napa. I hope I spelled that correctly. Unfortunately, the store does not open till 9am. I'll be looking around else where
to buy minnows so I can be there as early as possible.

wish I could join you but I already have plans...
If the Bass tourney is on, I will definitely suggest to go to Oak shore.  Capell will be a zoo and around Oak shore there is a "no wake zone".
I don't know which way you're coming from but I believe Berryessa sporting goods opens very early & has mini-minnows.http://www.berryessasportinggoods.com/
I don't if the Spanish Flat General Store is still open or still carries minnows, but I used to get minnows from there too.
Good luck!

Sounds like a great plan! I will try and get nice and early. Will look around to see if I can find some minnows in Suisun, it is hit or miss with Virgil's for little minnows.

That's awesome Jimbo. Will you please let me know if you can get some minnows if that is the case? Otherwise I will go to Napa after work on Friday to pick some up for early Saturday morning. I'll be bringing some chicken empanada for lunch and some cold ones. :smt002

Are minnows the ticket?  I was planning on drop shotting a Roboworm and jigging a grub.  I'm a total rookie and might just not know better.  What kinda setup do you use with a live minnow?

That will be great Rob if can make it. Let me know as well if you can get a hold of
some minnows and I will reimburse you for it. Hey Shellback, I normally just hook nose the minnows on an egg sliding sinker about 1/4 wt. I've done well in this set up. I would do the Robo worm as well but I like to troll slowly around the
lake for some leg excercise. :smt002
