Hey Guys, I've been wanting to hit Berry this year too, after seeing some awesome fish already pulled outta there.
Had to abort last weekends trip there, so this Sat. is looking good.
I also could get some minnows, just let me know.
I'll be drifting minnows, throwing plastic and cranks, and trolling.
Last time there caught a nice salmon throwing a shad-rap for LMB, it hit about 5 ft from shore!
Oak Shores is an awesome hand-launch only area that immediately accesses large a 5mph only zone.

yea goodluck guys and waitin to hear a solid report! if you want to cut to the chase, yea i would get minnows! but drop shotting may be effective as well! Oak shores has a nice huge rockpile right out in front and it should be underwater now but u should ,miss it! its right out in front of the pave cement launch ramp slightly to the right! Good bass spot. try to fish from 20ft and deeper! bring some rapalas or minnow plugs and try trolling for some rainbows or maybe a lucky salmon if the bass don't coroperate

Thanks for all the well wishes fellas. Yeah, I am already bracing myself to fish long
hours on Saturday. I'm thinking trolling for some trout early in the morning then
then bass in the afternoon.

Thanks for taking care of the minnows Jimbo. I believe it is only me and you that
has the problem having minnows in our area. Would you mind to pick me up some
about a 1 1/2 medium size for me? I figured with this size we can catch all kinds of fish.
I hope anyways. :smt002 I'll get you back on Saturday.

I'll be there at daybreak.  Is caple cove the same as Oak shore?  I was aiming to launch from oak shore.

Thanks for the map Tony. My understanding is that there will be a some kind of
bass tournament the same day we are all going. It is a big lake so there shouldn't
be any problem. I'd say we all should launch at Oak Shore and leave the boat ramp for the bass fisherman. I am getting exited to try and catch something.

Just curious... Why Berryessa when the Russian R is so close and has Steelhead? With all these peeps / cars for drop off and pick up we could have an amazing drift ? Any takers? (see Steelie posting, not to hijack this thread.)

Hey Jed, I agree Oak shores is more kayak friendly.

Capell does have all that structure and cover close by, and most boaters usually ignore it.
The tournament will make Capell busy, it's better on a weekday I think.

I've never launched Oak Shores early in the AM though, and I've heard of a locked gate to the parking area that opens a 7am. I guess we could just launch at the main rec. area, I dont' think there is a gate for that parking, or just park across the road on the shoulder and cart the boats down.

If anyone knows for sure, could you help a bro out with some intel? :smt003

At any rate I'll be there at about sunrise, white Subaru Forester, yellow antique scupper pro.
PM me if you want my cel. :smt001
