I heard just over the weekend that the Res. is very full, bait and stripers all spread out and very difficult to locate.  Can you imagine what it must be like today with this wind?  Go to the Forebay if anything.----Jeff

I'm guessing most are still down in Dallas for the Super Bowl.

Yeah, there's still plenty of stripers in the Res. They just seem to hold deeper than the Forebay, which means their metabolism is slower so they're a little more picky about what they hit. I heard the Basalt area was good about a month ago, drifting live minnows @ 40-60ft (when I was researching for our Forebay trip). But the water level has gone way up recently. Give it another month and all that newly-flooded structure will have some LMB staging.
The main thing to check before going to SLR is the wind. Check here: http://www.windfinder.com/forecast/san_luis_reservoir And call the wind hotline @ 1-800-805-4805
Good luck if ya go!

Like all have said, I'd recommend Oneil Forebay as well. I was out there last night for an evening troll will a few takedowns, with a c&r keeper in the mix.

As for San Luis Res, that lake water level is nearly FULL. Beautiful lake but lotsa water to cover lol. However, I've been eying to get out there and try the lake.

Jeff, one of these days I'll hookup with ya to try the Luis :)
