Allan,

I'm willing to give this a try.
What time do you plan on launching?
Also, where do u plan on meeting before the launch?

I'll be coming from Palo Alto and would like to know what time must I leave to meet up with you guys on time.

Thanks.

Danny

Also, what are various ways to cook and eat them?
Or treat them just like any other smaller clams?

Thanks.

We will meet at Doran and be on the water by 9...this should give us enough time to haul in some dungees and rock crabs...leaving for Lawson by 3.....We should be all set up and digging by 4 and out of the water by 5.
This is all depending on forecast of course...

I prefer eating the neck sashimi style....
The body either batter deep fry or clam chowder..

It takes 1.10 mins to get to Doran from Vallejo btw.  and 30 mins from Doran to Lawson

Allan,

If you won't mind, I would like to meet up with you in Vallejo so I can just caravan with you on the way to Doran. It will be my first time to go there and it would be easier for me if I just follow you along the way.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you are planning to launch by 9am, you must be leaving Vallejo by 7:20am eta Doran at 8:30am and launching by 9am. I can leave my place at 5:45am and meet up with you at 7am somewhere in Vallejo. Just name the place and I will be there.

Thanks.

Danny

Allan,

Change of plans. I was able to hookup with Shellback from Fremont so we will be leaving at the same time and will just meet up with you at Doran.
Sorry for the bother.

See ya then.

Lawson's Landing mailed me the 2011 tide chart, but I don't see 2/17 listed.  Would it be because its late in the evening, sunsets 5:50pm.  You better just dig fast!

Allan,

I'm still game. I'll check with Shellback and BML if they can still make it. I hope they still can.
Re pointing out the mix up, it was actually Nudling who first discovered it while I was getting some intel on the hows of clamming. Chaeki also shared all his secrets and even allowed me to borrow his "clam tools of the trade". What a nice guy!!!! :smt002

Now that we have a new date, I'll check with a few more buddies if they can now join us.

We can actually dig before the max low tide...-.6 is a lot of land showing so we should get our limits in 30 mins or so by 5pm or early...If we start digging by 4:15 should give us time to enjoy our sashimi as well :smt002

This is too tempting.  I probably won't be able to bring a yak... any chance of getting a ride over to the clamming grounds?  I'll make it up by being a gold/clam digger!

As long as the weather cooperates it's a GO! :sunny:
The tide is good for sure but it's the wind that we have to keep an eye for... :smt102
